Kristen Stewart’s Stylist To Kristen Stewart: ‘Please, Please, Please Put the Heel On’

Anyone who’s seen photos of Kristen Stewart in one of her perpetually occurring thousand-dollar-gown-and-ratty-sneakers getups (and doesn’t make a living scouring the Internet for this sort of information like we do!) may be surprised to learn that the Twilight star works with a professional stylist. Alas, it’s true.

Her name is Tara Swennen, and she wishes Stewart would wear heels just as much as the rest of us. Unlike the rest of us, Swennen actually gets paid to try and convince Stewart to wear heels. And most of the time, it still doesn’t work. Swennen told The Cut.

[Kristen] will always change into her Converse by halfway through a carpet, which is to be expected at this point, but she puts on the heels for me for the photos, God bless her. [...] I clearly prefer heel. But it’s part of her personality; I think it’s fun when she does it. There are definitely times when I have to say, ‘Please, please, please put the heel on just for me.’

Sure she can do it, but she says she changes into the sneakers for comfort, not as a style statement; flats would be equally comfortable and more "appropriate".

lol so what

I don't get what the big deal is. I don't see any one making a big deal over those men doing it so it shouldn't matter for her either. Also, I find my converse more comfortable than any flats I've ever worn.

It just really makes her look like she's trying to be ~rebellious, but in a lame kind of way that she still wears the dresses she's uncomfortable in (she always changes into jeans and a t-shirt ASAP) but she has to show that she wont conform. I'd respect it more if she just went the whole hog and wore jeans on the red carpet TBH.

i think she does sometimes, aren't there pics of her just in regular clothes during premieres? like here? idg why she can't stay dressed up for like two hours though. she just doesn't give a shit, bless her heart.

She had this sparkly lace abomination on before that, so that's probably the one time I don't even blame her for changing LOL.

lol at her sparkly crotch! a lacy disco jumpsuit? it's so monstrous i kinda love it. but yeah you're right, can't blame her for wanting to get out of that lol

lol i totally agree with you. it's silly how people are assuming she wears sneakers to "fancy events" to look rebellious when it was just made clear by her personal stylist that she only changes into sneakers because they are more comfortable. I don't see how reasoning that wearing flats is a better idea simply because it is more fashionable (for her benefit, of course) when she obviously doesn't care and puts comfort over fashion. and again, the whole men vs. women thing...this article would NEVER be written about a man. *eyeroll*

also, i'm high as fuck. please excuse me.

Do they wear sneakers every single time tho?

Does she wear flats though when she's out and about? I mean, not all girls are into ballet flats or heels or wedges. Apparently she's a sneaker and converse kind of girl, so maybe sneakers are her comfort shoes. If you see what she used to wear to red carpets back in the day, girl has compromised and changed a lot in the wardrobe department, I'd give her footwear choice a break.

Pre-Twilight fame she actually used to wear lower heels and flats on the red carpet (see here, here and here), so IDK why she can't do that now if she did it then; the only reason I can think is that she's either trying to be ~rebellious and/or she thinks she can do whatever she wants now because she's so famous.

I just feel like she's getting paid million to make movies, public appearances and premieres being part of that (I'm sure her contract for Twilight for example stipulates a number of related events she needs to attend), so really wearing smart shoes for less than an hour on a red carpet should be do-able. Those events are work, I can't imagine many real world jobs where you can just change out of your smart work shoes mid-day and put on some Converse with no consequences.
