Yesterday (11/19), at least four young men were testing for the role of Harry Osborn in Sony’s sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, which reunites director Marc Webb with stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, adding Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane.
Osborn is an integral part of the Spidey mythology – the son of tycoon Norman Osborn, he's one of Peter Parker’s few friends but evolves into one of Spider-Man’s nemeses.
According to insiders, those testing are Sam Claflin, a British actor who appeared in high-profile tentpoles Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Snow White & the Huntsman; Eddie Redmayne, another Brit who appeared in My Week With Marilyn and will be seen as Marius in Les Miserables; Douglas Booth, who appeared in LOL and is currently shooting Noah for Darren Aronofsky; and Boyd Holbrook, an American actor whose credits include The Big C, Hatfields & McCoys and the upcoming adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's The Host.
Sources say the producers and filmmakers now are seeking actors with characteristics that include athleticism and good looks. The testings come as several films, including Michael Bay's Transformers 4, are in the midst of casting young actors.

Who do you think should be cast? IMO: Dave Franco taking on his brother's role in Raimi's would be fitting and hilarious. None of these choices work. He's got the looks and athleticism down. Another option would be Garrett Hedlund.

She sucks.
Geez, I don't know how she got cast.
Maybe coz she has 'prestige by association' thanks to her being in that film with Clooney
Oh it's a shit, half-hearted franchise anyway it's just frustrating to see how weak everything about these movies is.
Everything is just...meh
I liked it better than the original. I definitely think Andrew makes a better Spiderman than Tobey.
It's too similar to the previous films.
ITA about needing someone that can challenge Emma and there is literally no way Shailene can do that, she has no spark. If anything she seems a softer person and more of a Gwen Stacy than an MJ.
And I thought Rhys Ifans was a solid villain. I love Willem Dafoe, but the Green Goblin sucked. And Franco was crap too lol
Alright you talked me round, the original wasn't exactly flawless
Idk, I think I'm just annoyed that this is almost a total remake when they could have gone in any direction.
I mean, another origin story? rme
i'd actually prefer lily collins over her if we're gonna go down the bland-teen-actresses route
smh at the movies for making her a bland bitch
