THE CURSE IS BROKEN: RIRI SET TO DEBUT AT #1 IN AMERICA

WHEN BLACK FRIDAY COMES: Today's HITS album sales chart has just closed and we’re already peering into our crystal ball for next week, folks, thanks to one-day sales reports from those retailers around the country who haven’t succumbed to tryptophan shock. Heading into holiday weekend, our retail experts ask for your indulgence, with a greater than usual margin of error due to cranberry consumption. Look for Def Jam/IDJ chanteuse Rihanna’s Unapologetic to sell between 240-260k, her biggest debut ever, which is probably good enough to make her #1 next week. Atlantic’s Kid Rock takes advantage of his availability at iTunes for the first time with an estimate of 160-180k for his new, pro-Mitt Romney album, Rebel Soul. 19/Interscope American Idol winner Phillip Phillips’ The World from the Side of the Moon will bow with between 140-160k. Atlantic/Rhino’s Led Zeppelin CD/DVD Celebration, recorded at their much-ballyhooed reunion show at London’s 02 Arena in 2007, should do in the 90-100k range. Geffen diva Keyshia Cole’s Woman to Woman is on target for 75-85k, while 19/RCA Idol album Kelly Clarkson’s greatest hits compilation looks good for 45-50k. RCA Latin star Pitbull’s Global Warning should do 35-40k, while Capitol stalwart Coldplay’s Live 2012 CD/DVD will sell in the 30-35k range. (11/20p)

not really lol, their first single dropped almost 20 spots after its debut week... their album will be lucky to get 150k second week

Just judging by how Up All Night sold I would say I'm correct. They are very consistent album sellers. You can't judge them by singles.

up all night only sold 170k first week though, that album sold consistently because people were discovering them as what makes you beautiful became a hit

now that they have a defined fanbase and everyone knows who they are, they're not going to be as consistent at all but rather have huge opening weeks

so

until Kiss You is officially released and they get even more exposure....

and win Grammys.... etc

UAN has been on the charts for 35 weeks and is still #23. I don't think it's dropped very low since it came out. They are very consistent album sellers.

They've only had 1, there's no pattern there. Sit down.

This is about them being consistent with sales, tho. They are. UAN went platinum faster than any other CD in the US last year and it's still selling. Their DVD also broke records. Their singles sell well. They are very strong sellers.

Rihanna will probably have a #1 single this week or next and she can barely sell half of what 1D sold their first week with a flop single lol
bitchboobye 20th-Nov-2012 10:41 pm (UTC)
because they have a young fanbase who will buy their album first week, without a hit they will have a hard time crossing a million in the long run... rihanna has easily crossed a million with every album since her 2nd

but i guess you tried!

Up All Night went platinum in less than four months and Take Me Home will do the same
shayme 20th-Nov-2012 10:50 pm (UTC)
LMAO. They will hit a million without any trouble.
