There's a new hero coming to AMC's The Walking Dead. The Wire alum Chad Coleman has been tapped to play fan-favorite character Tyreese in the zombie drama based on the comics created by Robert Kirkman, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

In the Image comics, Tyreese first appeared in the seventh issue, crossing paths with Rick and his group on the highway, with the former sheriff providing food for the former Atlanta Falcons linebacker and his family before joining the fold.

The character eventually works his way up as Rick's No. 2 following Shane's death and becomes a love interest for both Carol and Michonne.

The character is rumored to make his debut in The Walking Dead's Dec. 2 midseason finale, potentially setting up another major reveal the way the series first introduced Michonne during the second-season finale.

"There are a lot of characters from the comics that we will eventually work into the show -- Tyreese, Abraham, this new character Negan, who is the latest bad guy [in the comics]," showrunner Glen Mazzara told THRin October ahead of the season three premiere. "They all exist in the world of The Walking Dead, and it's just a matter of time before we meet them all."

Coleman's credits also include I Hate My Teenage Daughter, The Good Wife and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He's repped by Talent Works and Vanguard.

As far as returning characters is concerned, who would you like to see more than anyone come back to The Walking Dead? Morgan, played by Lennie James ... right? If you answered with anyone else, I hate to disappoint you but it is indeed Morgan who will make an appearance late in the season. Rumblings suggest Morgan appears "From a Distance", so not in the middle of whatever fracus gets stirred up between the Ricktator and The Governor. I like this. He's been a wild card on radio silence, no pun intended, for too long know. Just a check in on the way to him rejoining the cast in Season 4 or 5 would be geektacular. I'm guessing by the time he shows up his sniper skills will come in handy.

ok well not to be a diq about it but .... carl shot her and bailed, then rick had his little meltdown or w/e and went to find her. it doesnt seem like enough time passed for her ENTIRE BODY to be eaten, bones and all? idk that might be how it went down, but they did a really shitty job of making that clear. i thought she got up and walked off because there was no remains other than afterbirth.

they're using Lori's death as a vehicle through which Rick's journey continues. That's why the lack of attention to detail plus, of course, that the writers held her in high enough esteem to give her some dignity in death (even though the writing for her was just... horrendous... in life)

THIS. I'd love to see a zombie attempt to eat a human femur. My friend hypothesized that maybe their saliva is some kind of acid that dissolves organic material, therefore making the bones really gloopy. It only takes vinegar or HCl irl to make bones totally limp. But yeah, the total time passage was-what? 30 minutes? Completely implausible.

ewwww @ the gloopy bones

I would LOVE to see a walker walking around sucking on a bone like it's a rib or something.
