Voice of Elmo NEW LAWSUIT Allegations of Sex with SECOND Underage Boy

Kevin Clash -- known as the voice of Elmo -- is facing NEW allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a SECOND underage boy ... TMZ has learned.

The accuser -- who is now in his 30s -- has filed a lawsuit against Clash ... claiming the two met on a gay phone chat line back in 1993 ... when the accuser was 15 years old and Clash was 32.

Among the allegations, Singleton claims, "[Clash] trolled gay telephone chat line rooms to meet and have sex with underage boys."

In the lawsuit, filed in federal court in NYC, Singleton claims Clash "groomed [the accuser] to gain his trust by, among other things, taking him to nice dinners and giving him money."

Singleton claims while Clash was featured on "Sesame Street," he was "preying on teenage boys to satisfy his depraved sexual interests."

In the suit, Singleton claims ... although the sex occurred nearly 20 years ago, he didn't take action until now because ... he "did not become aware that he had suffered adverse psychological and emotional effects from Kevin Clash's sexual acts and conduct until 2012."

Singleton is demanding more than $5 million.

We broke the story, Clash struck a settlement with a previous accuser who initially claimed he had a sexual relationship with Kevin beginning when he was 16 years old. As part of the settlement, the accuser issued a statement recanting his claims.

What the fuck was a 15 year old doing on a phone sex line? You waited 19 years before filing a suit? Riiight.

I call bullshit.

mfte!!
evett 20th-Nov-2012 04:55 pm (UTC)
Is it really that odd for a teenager to call a party line? That shit was big in the mid/late 90s when I was a teen. I would call it with friends to either listen in on people or troll guys with fake personal stories. It was no different than the shenanigans that went on in AOL Chat.
forcestrong 20th-Nov-2012 04:57 pm (UTC)
Well, I think it's perfectly possible for a 15 yr to sneak onto a phone sex line.

But it's iffy to claim Clash went to those group phone lines specifically to hunt down underage boys. He'd have to know in advance that underage boys would be in those chats and I would think that revealing you're underage would get you kicked from one (though that's a guess).

It's far more likely that Clash met up with someone, realized they were underage, and pursued them anyway. Which I hope I don't have to explain I think is predatory and wrong. But it's not what the accuser claimed. I can believe Clash did something wrong, but I think the lawyer that wrote the lawsuit has hyperbole'd himself into a corner.
ms_mmelissa 20th-Nov-2012 04:59 pm (UTC)
You waited 19 years before filing a suit? Riiight.

I take find it highly objectionable that you would use time as a reason not to believe someone's story. A lot of abuse victims take years to come to terms with their abuse, to find people who are supportive of them and to consider whether even to stand up to their abusers.
myroomiswhite88 20th-Nov-2012 05:18 pm (UTC)
I was on the party line at 15 in 2004. And once my friend called on three way and forgot to hang up and they were on my moms answering machine talking about sex!!! Ughhh
killetheth 20th-Nov-2012 06:03 pm (UTC)
he "did not become aware that he had suffered adverse psychological and emotional effects from Kevin Clash's sexual acts and conduct until 2012." Singleton is demanding more than $5 million.

i think this is the bit that does it for me.
pikapika217 20th-Nov-2012 07:06 pm (UTC)
MFTE - if they did have sex, that's not the only over 18 person he had it with. I mean, nobody is on a gay chat line for talking alone and kids of the 90s aren't nearly that naive. Talking to an over 18 guy is one thing but meeting up with him too? heh - that's on you.
run_atreyu 21st-Nov-2012 10:22 am (UTC)
Lolmg. A group of my friends (gay men) met on a gossip/party line in the early 2000s when they were exactly that age; mid-teens. They'd call, choose to speak to men, and keep trolling till they picked up a man who was into men. This is not new.
sugary_placenta 22nd-Nov-2012 04:49 am (UTC)

smashy 20th-Nov-2012 06:49 pm (UTC)
lol. when i was 17 and my gay, male bf was 15, we would troll the chat lines constantly. if we had had the internet back then (this was like 1996 or smth) we wouldn't have been on chat lines, but we didn't so yeah. chat lines are hilarious.
juel1979 21st-Nov-2012 12:35 am (UTC)

bananasnrum 20th-Nov-2012 11:48 pm (UTC)
oh goodness, why would a 16 year old kid I knew growing up try to seduce a 12 year old in a chatroom and ask them to meet up for sex, who turned out to be a cop?
bettalaylow 21st-Nov-2012 12:28 am (UTC)
That's like asking what is a kid doing in a aol chat group. What a silly question

Are you forreal? The same reason why kids and underage teens are ANYWHERE they're not supposed to be.
evett 20th-Nov-2012 04:50 pm (UTC)
So troubling the way people are instantly taking Clash's side. They won't even consider that there could be some truth or not. Having no doubt in their mind despite not being there is bizarre.
harlem_nocturne 20th-Nov-2012 04:52 pm (UTC)
If you put a story out there, recant, and then say it's true again, considering the climate and motivation of society, I'm inclined to call BS.

I'm not trying to marginalize sexual abuse in any way possible, but I'm no fool to the stunts for checks that people pull.
evett 20th-Nov-2012 04:59 pm (UTC)
The first guy says he was pressured into taking the money and recanting. Now you can believe it or not. I guess that is all up for interpretation. But once money gets thrown around people will say anything (either the truth that it didn't happen or hiding the truth in favor of money)
ediesedgwick 20th-Nov-2012 04:54 pm (UTC)
ia. The way this is being handled in the media reeks of homophobia, but that doesn't mean the victims' claims are false.

ikr. people just really desperately don't want to believe that the man behind such a beloved childhood icon could be capable of something like this.

plugmebaby 20th-Nov-2012 10:12 pm (UTC)
ikr?? especially since we're talking about child sexual abuse here.

if clash wasn't gay, people here would be all over his shit. but because he's gay, suddenly everyone's suspicious of whoever claims to have been abused by clash. like.. it can take fucking time to realise you were abused, and then more time to be brave enough to bring this to light.in a lot of cases, after one person speaks up, others are more inclined to speak up about it as well. it's natural.
lickety_split 21st-Nov-2012 08:13 pm (UTC)

Being abused affects your life in ways you might not even realize. Especially if it a child that is groomed to believe that the relationship is okay and consenting. Mackenzie Phillips is a good example of this, for years she believed that what her father did to her was okay and she was willing. When in fact, he was abusing her the whole time.
yurasama_love 20th-Nov-2012 04:59 pm (UTC)
I'm aware of that, but it seems really suspect since he pursued this after the first allegation.
Everything about this guy seems really sketchy now, because if he is/was child grooming that's really fucking serious.

I'm not sure and maybe ONTD lawyers can help me out here, but there might be a statute of limitations on some of this stuff so they sort of have to phrase it that way just to get the case heard.
