yeah but i couldn't tell it was ever that serious compared to how intense it is this season. it just feels so forced.

I might be giving the show too much credit, but latching onto the memory of a relationship that only seemed fling-ish while it was happening is somewhat common with people who are bipolar. It's part of that whole manic intensity. it doesn't necessarily make sense but it's consistent with Carrie's character.
