Utada Hikaru performs theme song for Evangelion 3.0,

The official website for the Evangelion films began streaming a new commercial for Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (Evangelion Shin Gekijō-ban Q) on Saturday. The new ad features "Sakura Nagashi," the ending theme song that singer Hikaru Utada contributed for the film.

The third film in Hideaki Anno and Khara's four-part remake of Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series opened on Saturday.

The theatrical pamphlet for Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (Evangelion Shin Gekijō-ban Q), the third film in Hideaki Anno and Khara's four-part remake of Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion series, revealed the title for the next film on Saturday. The fourth and final film is titled Shin Evangelion Gekijō-ban 𝄇 (シン・エヴァンゲリオン劇場版𝄇). The symbol at the end of the title is used in music to denote repetition after reaching the end of a measure.

The first three films' Japanese subtitles are the names for the three classical movements (Jo-Ha-Kyū or Introduction-Exposition-Climax) of traditional Japanese music such as gagaku and Noh.

The final film is slated to open in theaters next year. Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo opened in Japanese theaters on Saturday.

The film takes place 14 years after the events of the previous film.

OMG ALMOST EVERYBODY LOOKS DIFFERENT.

Highlight to read: Misato puts a collar bomb (a la Battle Royale) on Shinji because he set off 3rd impact at the end of 2.0. If Shinji ever tries to pilot the EVA he'll be blown up. Kaworu is enlisted by Gendo to retrieve the Lances of Longinus but he needs Shinji help so he puts the collar on himself. Later on, in the big battle Kaworu realizes that he and Shinji have been played by Gendo but Shinji can't bring himself to stop fighting. The collar sets off while Kaworu is wearing it. They're in the EVA together and only separated by a thin wall of glass. It's very gory and all around sad. ANGST AHOY.

Well shit. That sucks. I'M EXCITED

As far as I know, no. But a good portion of the movie is them just being together. They play the piano and Shinji seems content if not fearful of that fact that almost everyone hates him.

I'n going to just assume they fucked off screen then because fuck you, Anno, just give me the goods ugh :'(

mte. Have you read the manga? Their relationship is a bit more overt and it's done with Anno's blessing so it doesn't feel false or anything. And then there's doujinshis with outright (and in character!) fucking... basically everything Anno will never give us.

I need to check out these doujins. I bet Anno wrote some himself.

I heard bad things of the manga's treatment of Kaworu. Just how overt are talking?
anemoneoflight 20th-Nov-2012 07:29 pm (UTC)
Well, Kaworu and Shinji kind of/sort of kiss, they shower together for a second, Shinji flat out admits to being attracted to him... your mileage may vary. Some people think the manga is too fan service-y but Sadamoto does a really good job of fleshing out Kaworu into this weird, enigmatic kid with little concept of privacy. The anime keeps their relationship more ambiguous and the manga lays out a lot of little details. Personally? I like it a lot.
