Kerry Washington? Is she already up there with other great actresses, I haven't seen any movie that she's in, but she is great in scandal. I never heard of Emayatzy. Viola Davis should be up there.

She's really good in Scandal but I don't like her acting. I think the consensus is yes, she's good.

well Viola doesnt have any movies that she might get nominated for this year. Kerry is in the new tarintino movie and I emayatzy is someone we will be hearing about a lot in the future.

Oh man, I saw The Sessions yesterday. Both Helen Hunt and John Hawkes were amazing, and wow were those brave performances.

I can't stand any of these roundtable interviews. Seeing all these rich and smug people in the same room talking together ~about their craft~ gives me an allergic reaction or something, idk.

ia last years was HORRIBLE but I really enjoyed this video, and the "writers" one was amazing with Michael Haneke sitting there like "..."

I mean, it can be interesting when you get people who actually have something to say, like Steve McQueen and his comments on racial diversity (or lack thereof) in film and behind the cameras. Same for Viola Davis. But most of the time there's so much false ass kissing and self congragulation I just c a n ' t

The absolute WORST is when female actors play the parent card

All that pales in comparison to the reality Tv producers roundtable. tbh, I only ever watch if an ethnic minority is on it or an actress that I really like. I was doing some boring data entry at work, so I got through the last TV ones and I couldn't get through reality Tv producers roundtable, the smugness coming off Ryan Seacrest, acting like the Kardashians is some salt of the earth type show was more than I could stomach.

damn, i've always loved them, but this thread made my feel like a ignorant fangirl. i have never seen it as a room full of sharks, just the opposite - the roundtables seem so fun and friendly (except i hate the older interviewer) and so interesting in terms of "going behind the scenes". even in the charlize/viola moment i saw as this girl power thing where one woman confesses her girl chrush on another. but you all make a lot of sense. bummer

oscar season always does such a nice job of illustrating the lack of diversity in film, the lack of quality female roles & the total lack of artistic ambition the academy awards celebrate
