tbh Astor has been through a lot - a drug addict for a father, her mother was murdered, and all she has left for a parent is an emotionally and physically absent stepfather. Kid is lucky that she has those grandparents.
But the writers have a habit of turning her into a Bratty Teen cliche just for the sake of it. The pot smoking was the final touch, lol. At least we don't have to deal with her on a weekly basis, though.
It wasn't the material that was that bad (not saying it was good), but the execution of it was giving me secondhand embarrassment. And lol at me for not realizing it's spelled Astor, oops
i just finished s6 and i was wtf'ing the whole time. i had to make myself watch it. it was TERRIBLE. i don't want to have s7 be a hatewatching, but that's what it's looking like.
also - met colin hanks at the airport, fucker is short. i just kept looking at hm and dexter thinking how wrong it was how short they both are. and how tiny that makes both deb and olmos.
The bar scene was amazing, the dialogue was perfect.
LaGuerta is getting into some shit now, it's a guessing game as to who is going to kill her!
I think (I hope at least) Joey Q is done too, I never liked him and I'm glad he seems to be on his way out as well.
Jen Carpenter is bomb ass amazing, that last scene with Deb and Astor was hilarious.
I have a feeling Hannah is going to turn on Dexter in a huge way. Hopefully when/if she does that he won't have a love interest next season and concentrate on I dunno not passing Harrison off to Jamie 24/7.
well he's renting the apartment next to him so she can be there "all the time," but i mean come on damn girl has to have a life other than being second mommy to harrison!!
Jamie is just a weak plot trick to explain Harrison's constant absence. Isn't she supposed to be in school? What 20-something girl would just take care of someone else's kids full-time indefinitely without a place of her own? The writers were really lazy with that one.
- WHEN DEXTER CUT THAT GUY'S THROAT I LITERALLY YELLED "WHAT THE HELL" FLOP SERIAL KILLER
- WHY DID HE SHOW OFF HIS ENTIRE FAMILY TO THAT BLONDE PSYCHO? FLOP FATHER
- I am not here for the return of Incesticide!!!!!!! Can they please stop torturing Deb's character??? More scenes of her and Astor getting stoned tbh. BUT Jen's acting was amazing and A+.
- OMG LAGUERTA AT THE END!!!!!!!
- "It's a shame really. Under different circumstances we could have been friends boyfriends." y/y?
- Isaak was hawt as always.
My reaction to Dexter/Deb in any romantic context:
Boyfriends? Yes, please! I could've done without the Hanna storyline. More focus on Dexter and Isaak and perhaps some sexual tension between the two of them would've been grand.
YES! I was FUMING when he was like "Oh hey those are my kids. Wave!". Harrison/Astor/Cody-in-danger has already happened as far back as season 2. Let's not revisit.
I thought the bar scene was the most refreshing moment of the season, after so much flop. This Ukrainian mobster cliché cop drama story is such a fail.
Haven't seen any of this season yet. I have been watching my Dexter DVDs, S1-6, over the past few weeks. S6 was so horrendously awful, I still can't wrap my head around it. And S4, I wasn't sad with Rita since she was the most annoying, awful woman on that show in S4. Her character development over the seasons just made absolutely no sense and watching the seasons again, I'm reminded how much it pissed me off. Also, sometimes, I feel alone in my hatred towards Harry. He just annoys the shit out of me. But the important question is this. Is S7 better than S6?
I am not here for any S4 Rita hate, even though the writers eventually wrote her character into a corner. To be honest, I find it disturbing how many fans turned on her and interpreted her newly found assertiveness as 'nagging' or annoying. Dexter was always lying and sneaking around behind her back so she was obviously going to bitch him out for that.
I agree with you about Harry, though. He is The Worst.
And yes, S7 is a LOT better than S6! Definitely worth watching.
I am allowed to dislike a character - female or male - if they are poorly written and Rita, in S4, compared to the earlier seasons, was horribly written.
seasion 6 was honestly one of the worst things to happen to television. fucking dreadful.
and i get the point of harry but when he started to point out obvious things every 5 seconds on s6 i wanted to hurl something at my monitor. they've stopped that this season, thankfully.
s7 is miles better than s6. technically anything is but really, it's great in comparison. the first episodes were fantastic, the recent ones not so much but i still hope it can pick up and deliever again.
Omg I probs hated rita since half of season 1 lol. When she was gone I was pleased. I didn't watch season 5 or 6 and I don't know if this season 7 I will like cos that Lila 2.0 i don't like her (I loveddd lila in season 2 tho)
ONTD hates this season? I was behind so idk the consensus but its getting great reviews elsewhere.
I love this season bc its a gamechanger which this show badly needed. It feels the opposite of predictable rn and I never know where its going next. Love it tbh.
From the posts I've seen, most people love it. It's just the last 2 episodes have slightly lost steam but it's still one of the best seasons in a while, for sure.
Minus Incesticide I thought last night's episode was terrific. Even the writing was top notch. Dexter's monologue usually makes me cringe because of how cheesy it sometimes is, but the Argentina quote was very emotionally resonant, I thought.
i like hannah/dexter together for purely selfish reasons tbh. also the whole "sociopaths in love" thing even though it goes against the basic concept of sociopathy.
Omg now I am completely convinced that those rumours are true. Hannah was practically SALIVATING at the idea of Dexter as a family man. I can see it now: she'd be scooping his jizz out of the condom to do some fingerpainting on the inside of her vag dear lord
like nothing was surprising but i'm really glad that there were many a revelation in dexterverse. like shit is about to go down. and even though i am nhf incesticide, i'm glad the writers aren't ignoring it and pretending it never happened.
I created this post just so I could vent. Everyone at TWoP are all, "Omg, best episode evah!" and I'm just sitting here insulted at how dumb the writers of this show think we are. The fact that they actually went there with Deb/Dexter is appalling. Yeah, there was chemistry between both actors in the earlier seasons (because they were real-life husband and wife) but now I feel like the writers are just trying to exploit that. The collective crap the writers always take on Deb is also ridiculous. She should be in a padded cell by now. And despite LaGuerta/Deb finding out Dexter's secret, we're still getting this run-of-the-mill "Villain of the season" crap.
Isn't it unofficially confirmed that S8 will be the last though? I feel that LaGuerta and Deb finding out about Dexter is just kind of setting up the endgame for the series, so that next season, they can just let all hell break loose.
If that's the case, then the show is just stalling until it gets to the real, gritty shit, and to be honest, that's what this show has been doing since season four.
at how messy dexter's been this season (the writers too, but that's another story). here's hoping his utter incompetence as both as a father figure and serial killer can make up for a killer episodes on the following weeks.
EVEN DEXTER CAN'T.
WTH!

HOLY AWKWARD, DEB.

My reaction to Dexter/Deb in any romantic context:
i love how dexter has more (or just as much) sexual tension with his killers than most of his love interests tbh.
S7 >>>>>>>>> S6
I agree with you about Harry, though. He is The Worst.

I really like Hannah/them together. *kanye shrug*

Also, Jennifer Carpenter is so under-appreciated :(
all the feels last night
