AC/DC finally puts their catalogue for sale on iTunes

THE last great iTunes hold-outs, Australian rockers AC/DC have quietly put their entire catalogue for sale through the digital retailer.

Their capitulation, after vowing for the past four years that they didn't want fans to be able to cherrypick songs through sites such as iTunes, comes as they release Live At River Plate, their first concert release in two decades.

Frontman Brian Johnson and band co-founder Angus Young have been vehemently opposed to putting their music online, insisting it was ``about making money'' and not preserving the artistic intent of the album format.

"It's like an artist who does a painting," Young said in 2008.

"If he thinks it's a great piece of work, he protects it."

As well as fans being able to download AC/DC tracks for $2.19 and albums for $16.99, there are boxed set collections so you can stay faithful to the band's ethos and buy all the records together at once for $229.99.

The band was keeping this momentous news quiet until after midnight when a press release was due to be issued by their label Sony in America.

Perhaps the decision to move with the times comes as they prepare to celebrate their 40th anniversary next year.

It really bothers me when blockbuster, multimillionaire artists start crying about artistic integrity.

FUCK YES.

The Ironman 2 soundtrack was as close to a greatest hits album as you could get, really, but there are so many great songs that weren't on it. I am all over this.
