I use HBOGO too, and by bloody god does it stink. I mean you might as well be watching an illegal stream for all the constant stopping/starting/blurring that occurs.
It just felt off to me how, when Nucky was all "Uh, are you sure you don't want to take some more men, have back up?", Owen pretty much dismissed it. It felt like he knew what was coming, almost.
But then again, I doubt he'd willingly off himself to avoid responsibility -- he'd probably just run away. Still, though. :(
I really want to think that, at the very least, he THOUGHT he was being sincere. I think he really wanted to do it and was involving Margaret in his fantasies without actually knowing if he'd be able to pull it off.
I just feel like he wouldn't have just pulled that promise out of thin air. He didn't really have anything to gain by telling her that and not meaning it.
I think he was being sincere, but I really don't know what to think about the Masseria deal. It seemed like a plot convenience to me - he was obvs doomed, and this way he could die w/o taking anyone else down or making Nucky kill him. (Too Jimmy 2.0) But idk why he would agree to do it like that unless he was just overconfident?
I'm guessing he was trying to set up a system of ppl trusting him/not being suspicious before he and Margaret left and that's also why he was talking marriage w/ Katy. If Nucky trusted him and Katy trusted him, that would at least buy him some time and not get him killed right away after Margaret left. But idk I'm still trying to work thru this and not get too clouded by my broken Owen/Margaret shipper heart.
I would be inclined to believe that he was a bit insincere if he didn't know about the pregnancy. We don't know if he ever wanted children of his own, but the way we've seen him with Teddy and Emily, I think he really wanted that baby boy, so no, I don't think he was being insincere. And it seemed like he really fell for Margaret. I guess we'll never know. :(
I think he was being sincere. He was completely smitten by her for like, two years. I feel like he was genuinely head over heels for Margaret, and would've jumped at the chance of having a life and a family with her.
I don't think he planned it. He had a point that you don't want to kill someone with a huge amount of people and cause a big scene with it. Still, upset over it.
Of course I KNEW Owen was a goner but I really thought Nucky would be the one to do it! Here I was, like, "Oh man, it's SOOOOO obvious Owen is gonna die. Pfft." And here it happens OUT OF FUCKIN' NOWHERE. I wasn't READY!!!! WHO DID IT?!?!
But oh my GOD, I literally can not handle the Richard feels tonight. I just can't. That sexy angsty damaged assassin full of love!!
Oh and as soon as the doctor told Margaret she looked pale, I knew she was pregnant. They were foreshadowing that, though. I wonder if she'll keep it. Seems like she might take a page out of that other woman's book. But then again, I don't think she'll be able to self-abort. Hm.
Now I just need my two Boardwalk Empire Guardian Angles la_petite_singe and malorn to bring the gifs and overall amazingness to this post so I can drown in the Harrow goodness.
The Richard feels....yes, they are OFF THE CHARTS today!
I keep thinking about him saying to Julia "I wish I could kiss you." and the way he held onto her hand with a grunt when she wanted to remove her hand when her father walked in the room. He was making his stand, right then and there!
And....ice cream....and barefoot confessions in the sand.....and sleeping under the boardwalk, arms wrapped around each other....
{{{{{{{{{{DEAD}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
I know how cruel this show is so I know it won't last but I'm gonna bask in the glow for this week at least (I don't know any spoilers, I'm just guessing cuz no one stays happy on this show.)
And pouring out some Guinness for my Irish hottie, R.I.P., Owen....
VAN ALDEN HAS BOTH CRAZY EYES AND IS NOT CRITICALLY MAIMED/DEAD AND ALL OF HIS FAMILY STILL LIVES
THAT IS ALL I CARE ABOUT T B Q H
also I was lolling at how the Richard Harrow storyline this week was total fanservice, and then they turned around and destroyed everyone's hopes with Owen!
It's fanservice for now; you know things are gonna get horrible rill soon. DDDD: My OTPs are never, ever allowed to be happy and I fuckin' love them to death. All I ask is that they both live. And that Tommy's fine. I don't need a ~happy ending right now, JUST SOMETHING LESS THAN ABJECT SUFFERING PLZ
Oh I KNOW, lol, this show hates happiness. I was thinking Julia would leave Richard cause he was too unstable, which I think would be more interesting than yet another murder. I really hope they don't kill her, cause I'm so over women dying to further male storylines on Boardwalk.
but seriously though I am going to rage if anything happens to Van Alden's wife and/or kids though like R A G E
Yessss, it totally was fanservice, oh my god. Then again, if things go horribly wrong for him, thus causing him to act out in an angsty or violent way, that'll be fanservice, too, lol. AS LONG AS THEY DONT WRITE HIM OFF.
Richard's storyline is boring me to tears right now, I was genuinely pissed throughout this episode whenever they cut away to his scenes. I feel like they've wasted his character, like he could've been so much more - he showed so much more promise in S1/2 tbh.
Or maybe I'm just pissed he took up precious screentime in Owen's last episode ugh
I'm on the west coast so I haven't seen the episode, but is this episode good? (don't spoil me) I'm just curious because some of the past episodes this season have been pretty boring to me.
Richard & Julia is literally everything I've ever wanted in life and I wrote a fic just like it and I will be crying for all eternity B Y E
and I didn't think I cared about Owen but I fuckin' freaked out and did a huge Gay Inhale when he opened that box and ;____________________; Margaret's reaction oh my god
and ugh I knew she was pregnant and tbqh I think the best thing would be an abortion, since this year she's all about choices and education and women's rights/knowledge and Margaret Sanger, etc, etc. (just NOT via raw milk) :(
BUT THEY WERE HOLDING HANDS
AND THEY KISSED AND FELL ASLEEP ON THE BEACH AND I MAY OR MAY NOT LITERALLY HAVE CRIED (hint: I did)
SPEEEEAKING OF FIC. After last week I went scouring the internet for good BE fic, hahaha. There's not that much out there, it's so sad. RIIICHHHAAAAAARD!!!
I know, right?! It's really just like me and a handful of my Tumblr pals writing shit. But I've written, er, several involving him, and one I did right before the beginning of the season is legit freakishly similar to what they're actually doing (including some scenes I didn't add, like a dance lesson bit and most especially the accidental 'family' photo on the boardwalk) and unsurprisingly I AM SCREAMING ABOUT IT
GOD DAMMIT GYP I WANT TO ENJOY YOU and i try but when u do things like that it makes me so uncomfortable but i think thats the point , really anyway this season was severely lacking in CHALKY. this season was strange it was erratically great, like certain scenes/interactions were so perfect (a lot of the van alden stuff, the richard stuff) and others just fell too flat. i think they just invest too much screen time in too many characters that most of the audience doesn't care for and it makes the show suffer as a whole. also poor margaret :'(
I have to change the channel every time Gyp is about to brutally murder someone for essentially stepping on his foot. I have rules against watching amputations and eyeball stuff on TV.
The show is suffering from not knowing how to incorporate the real historical stuff. It's total proof that they were PR-lying about always wanting to kill Jimmy off. They fired Michael Pitt and the show doesn't know what it's doing anymore.
The more ridiculous actors (Rothstein, Nelson, Gyp) are saving the show right now.
Anyhow, links: http://www.watchseries-online.eu/2012/1
Or did he effectively plan his own murder intentionally? :(
But then again, I doubt he'd willingly off himself to avoid responsibility -- he'd probably just run away. Still, though. :(
I just feel like he wouldn't have just pulled that promise out of thin air. He didn't really have anything to gain by telling her that and not meaning it.
That said, I blame Nucky for being an irresponsible dick.
I'm guessing he was trying to set up a system of ppl trusting him/not being suspicious before he and Margaret left and that's also why he was talking marriage w/ Katy. If Nucky trusted him and Katy trusted him, that would at least buy him some time and not get him killed right away after Margaret left.
