Robert Pattinson is really not a fan of Twilight

source

Everyone creams Kristen for not being "grateful," even though she constantly defends the franchise, but it's apparently okay for a man to say whatever he wants, criticize and mock the franchise without judgment. I say this as someone who is not a fan of any of this twilight stuff.  I just can't turn a blind eye to the obvious double standard even if their personalities aren't parallel.

Men get away with so much.  The only get called out if they do really extreme things like cheat on their wives with 18 other women, or get arrested for beating a woman up.

And also Megan Fox got blasted for the shit she talked about Transformers... Shia made critical comments about Transformers as well as other films he was on and walked away scott free.

Everyone literally needs to walk out of twilight's asshole. Seriously, stans & haters, I think you've all spent enough time up it. "It's over, go home" -Ferris Bueller

In other news, I seen Aziz Ansari at the Apollo the other day. He was perfection and you're all beneath him.
effervescent 17th-Nov-2012 02:54 am (UTC)
I will be so glad when this steaming pile of crap vanishes. :D
whitegirlmob 17th-Nov-2012 03:07 am (UTC)
I really didn't like his show. His bit on marriage and proposing was alright, but his closing joke was such a snooze, omg.

That girl who opened for him was amazing though
jtaps 17th-Nov-2012 03:14 am (UTC)
A guy opened at our theater, Mike something, he started slow but got really funny.

Idk, I'm such a big fan, I love his stand up. My favorite was the joke about the molesters and the white babies bit.
syzygy09 17th-Nov-2012 03:23 am (UTC)
I love Aziz.
asymptom 17th-Nov-2012 02:55 am (UTC)
I think twilight is shitty and I don't have a problem with them joking about it, but it has gotten old. People need to stop acting like they are these humble indie actors and their lives just got out of hand or some shit. They read the script, they knew it was a teen series (Rob was in HP for fucks sake), they talked to their people, they got paid and they knew exactly what they were getting into
myroomiswhite88 I read that during the credits17th-Nov-2012 02:58 am (UTC)
During the credits in a lot of cities everyone clapped for the actors appearances but no one clapped for Kirsten , some even booed and shouted "whore"
residentditz 17th-Nov-2012 03:41 am (UTC)
Everyone cheered for Taylor and Rob in mine, and when no one clapped for Kristen everyone started laughing which was pretty fantastic.
fauxkaren Re: I read that during the credits17th-Nov-2012 04:02 am (UTC)
My sister went to see it last night and yeah, she said that everyone cheered for Rob and Taylor, but the theater was silent when it came to Kristen.
hierarchia Re: I read that during the credits17th-Nov-2012 06:01 am (UTC)
approving of the silence, but ow @ the "whore." harsh.
whitegirlmob 17th-Nov-2012 03:02 am (UTC)
Somewhere along the line, Kristen realized that she doesn't have to try, and she'll make millions. It was probably right around the time she signed onto the first Twilight film
apricotvodka 17th-Nov-2012 03:04 am (UTC)
Sandra Bullock has shitted on a couple of her films too and she gets away with it. When she does it she's funny, straightforward, self deprecating and highly likeable, just like Rob.

It's about the person and how they come across, not about gender.
tigersnap 17th-Nov-2012 03:20 am (UTC)
So...all women except Sandra Bullock have shitty personalities with no sense of humor then? Men never get trashed for expressing a negative opinion and if they do it's only brief and in passing. It doesn't turn into a career defining meltdown like it has for other actresses who dare to have an opinion.
apricotvodka 17th-Nov-2012 03:44 am (UTC)
have you ever watched a movie with actors/actresses commentaries on? They openly mock their own movies. How many have gotten a backlash, lost their careers or gotten out of favor w/ audiences because of it?

run_atreyu 17th-Nov-2012 11:09 am (UTC)
Exactly this. There always has to be one token person of an oppressed group who is touted by the oppressors so that they can claim not to be the utter dicks they are. You need a bootstrap example in order to deny your prejudice and the unfair workings of the system and make the case that if one person in that group can make it, surely they all can. Hence why the Republican party will always have at least one black person on staff who will stand up and say "they're not racist!" when something racist is invariably said/done. Or the woman who's ~one of the boys~ and denies sexism. The exception to the rule is a necessary part of any oppressive regime. When it comes to women in Hollywood, that's Meryl Streep ("There are good parts for women! There are interesting characters for women over 40, other women just aren't trying hard enough, look at Meryl Streep!" etc. etc. etc.) Apparently in female comedy, it's going to be Sandra Bullock for the purpose of this post.
xbellaxmiax 17th-Nov-2012 03:31 am (UTC)
plenty of actors and actresses make jokes about their characters and movies- it's hilarious how people are getting all offended on the poor twilight's behalf
laceandskin 17th-Nov-2012 03:05 am (UTC)
I'm just glad that this shit is going to be over.
shilohninejulia 17th-Nov-2012 03:06 am (UTC)
"when he tells her 'i wanna kill you so much, every single day. every moment i'm with you i'm desperately wanting to kill you.' and she's like, 'i don't care. i love you'. it's like .. there's definitely something wrong with her, and very obviously something wrong with me."

hahahaaaa omg he literally just summed up my entire love life. men always love/hate me. like they want to either fuck me or kill me and there's never an in between emotion.
anchors_oceans 17th-Nov-2012 03:14 am (UTC)
he's not wrong. i wish more 13 year olds/50 year old moms thought this way.
hearthecity 17th-Nov-2012 03:08 am (UTC)
They both kind of suck. Rob pretends not to be playing the Hollywood game, but their PR reconciliation says otherwise.

I don't think this applies to Kristen, but it's a good point that in general, women aren't allowed to be critical in the same way as men are in Hollywood.
skky95 17th-Nov-2012 03:10 am (UTC)
From the stuff I've seen I feel like both of them have come off as ungrateful. But I dont follow enough to know who is "worse" I guess. If there is a double standard I dont agree with it though.
soavantgarde 17th-Nov-2012 03:12 am (UTC)
lol this mess
honey_fuggle 17th-Nov-2012 03:20 am (UTC)
just because he shits all over the film doesn't mean that he's above it. the guy has been in like no decent movies since hp. ms pattinson, be grateful you got the role of edward cullen because it opened so many doors for you...and it brought you to stew. the man that love, loves you.

ok but seriously it's not cool that he says all that stuff even if he is ~joking and ~charismatic. it's just unprofessional. and as much as i hate stew it's not so much twilight she shits on, it's definetly her fans. sad but true. she defends the fuck out of twilight and bella. it's just the fact that she's such an insecure person that she has to constantly talk down on other actresses when she can't act herself and constantly goes on about how 'real' she is. oh, and that whole fucking her married director thing too.

also, i think rob is a hyprocit b/c he says that twilight doesnt "deserve" the hate it gets when he's part of it.
heyignatzmouse 17th-Nov-2012 03:22 am (UTC)
ia with your note op.
rooney mara was reamed for like pages and pages of comments bc she made fun of some episode of law and order she was on 100 years ago but whenever robert says something negative about twilight (the movie that made him famous, rich, and allowed him to have the freedom to do whatever other projects he likes) people act like it's the funniest thing ever.
I generally think actors should be allowed to say whatever they want about their movies (most people are thinking it tbh) but the double standard is ridic.
syzygy09 17th-Nov-2012 03:27 am (UTC)
Mara was reamed for shitting on Law and Order? I don't follow her career or anything, but really? What did she say?

Regardless, that's so ridiculous.

Every slightly-working actor ever has had a guest spot on that show -- and many have made fun. (and tbh, I think it's overrated as hell)
icangoforthat 17th-Nov-2012 03:38 am (UTC)
she insulted L&O because she worked on an episode where she bullied a fat person and she couldn't understand how that happened irl or something. I think she called it stupid or something

anyway post was deleted but she also made fun of the shitty remake of Nightmare on Elm Street she starred in.

http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/65409004.html
derrobitch 17th-Nov-2012 03:50 am (UTC)
lmao the L&O stans getting mad over that were H I L A R I O U S

having said that she did rub me the wrong way when she spoke about nightmare on elm street, because she was like ~oh i was so disappointed i got the part, i didn't try in the audition because i was so embarrassed but i got the role anyway omg it was so terrible~ like THAT is a fucking shitty ass attitude.
karinette001 17th-Nov-2012 03:28 am (UTC)
bless this post
residentditz 17th-Nov-2012 03:39 am (UTC)
Why is OP so mad? IDGI.
_myaugust 17th-Nov-2012 09:17 pm (UTC)
Cause she has to expose the difference between how male and female actors get treated yet is just pulling shit out of their ass. She doesn't have any sources, which makes him/her look ridiculous.
empirebird 17th-Nov-2012 03:42 am (UTC)
ONTD has always displayed a double standards, it's reflective of society. Although here you're most likely to be called on it in some capacity.
