Katy Perry talks Christmas and The Sims + New Sims Stuff Pack

To celebrate the launch of The Sims 3 Seasons, we thought we’d have a chat with Katy Perry to ask her all things Sims and holiday related. How nice.

Katy spoke to us all about Christmas related things and her bright pink bush… tree… same diff. Here’s how it went:

So Katy, if could turn someone into a Sim in The Sims 3 Seasons, who would it be?
I think if I could turn someone or something close to me into a Sim I’d probably turn, hmmm, it’s kind of a tie between my best friend Shannon or my cat, Kitty Purry. It’d be nice to have my cat be a Sim and see what she would look like and what kind of character traits she’d have. I’d love to see her actually talk. It would be my dream to have that cat talk. I know she’s had so much on her mind ever since she’s been at my house.

Describe a typical holiday season in the Perry household?
The typical holiday season for me and my family is just all about family time and really how much time we can spend with each other. We will all sit around each other and it’s funny because you can tell we are family. We all have the same sarcastic sense of humor. This year is going to be a little different because my cousin is having a baby girl right before Thanksgiving so it will be an addition to our family which hasn’t happened for over 20 years. All eyes will be on that little baby girl. She’s going to be adorable.

Do you bring Christmas things around with you on the road if you're away from home?
I try and always carve out the holiday time for my family and make an event of it. My sister is very festive and matronly and considerate. I think all of November she is mulling spices on the stove and it smells beautiful all over the house. I’m such a fan of Christmas trees and decorations. In the past I’ve typically had more non-traditional Christmas trees. I remember a couple of Christmas’ ago I had an electric pink Christmas tree and I loved that. But this year, I think I’m going to go for more of a traditional look but it’s going to be very tall.

What's the WORST present you've ever given someone?
To this day still, I kind of forget that wrapping a gift is an important detail. My sister, she takes the cake on the holidays, but me, I’m always thinking of the easiest way to wrap a gift. I like to think that it’s just the thought that counts, not what the package looks like on the outside.

You're at a holiday party, you turn up and everyone's got gifts for each other apart from you, who arrived empty handed as you missed the memo. WHAT DO YOU DO?
Well in real life I always have a few bottles of gift-wrapped champagne in the back just in case I’m going to a dinner party at any moment. But I think if I were to be caught in that situation all I would say is, ‘Oh it’s on back-order! Everyone was really into this idea for a present. It’s the best present ever and it’s on back-order and it’s that great, but you’re just going to wait a little time.’

Will you make everyone sit around and watch your film at home?
No, I’m not going to make everyone sit around and watch my film because they’re all in it, and they’ve already lived it once.

This is mostly just an excuse to talk about The Sims 3 Seasons. Who has it and loves it? All the weather! Holidays! Festivals! Activities! Return of aliens! Best expansion pack to date in my opinion. The new stuff pack might be the first one I actually get for Sims 3 as well.
