PETA Angry Over Wolves in Cages at 'Twilight' After-Party

Photobucket

A group even angrier than Team Jacob fans at an Edward rally? PETA. E! reports that caged wolves were at the after-party for Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 on Monday night.

In a statement to EW, PETA said: “A PETA staffer was in attendance at the Twilight premiere and was told that the exhibitor was “Hollywood Animals,” a notorious exhibitor that has been cited for numerous violations of the Animal Welfare Act for repeatedly failing to provide the animals it exploits with basic veterinary care, proper shelter, food, and water. PETA has written to Summit Entertainment and the premiere party organizers urging them to not use live animals as part of their future Twilight promotional events….”

EW reached out to Summit Entertainment (now Lionsgate) and Hollywood Animals for clarification or a response, but did not hear back.

While I think PETA is ridiculous, they have a point here. This isn't right. Wild animals are not party decor / for your party atmosphere.
the_landlady 16th-Nov-2012 06:12 pm (UTC)
Ugh, this makes ma rage. These are wild animals, people. They are not meant to be put in a cage for your drunk-ass amusement. SMDH

the_landlady 16th-Nov-2012 06:34 pm (UTC)

imnotasquirrel 16th-Nov-2012 06:14 pm (UTC)
peta actually has a point here. broken clocks and all that jazz.

poor wolves. :(

this reminds me, i'm going to the circus tomorrow and it's one of those circuses that use animals. so i was a bit hesitant, but apparently they only use domesticated animals like dogs and not wild/exotic creatures, so that's different, yeah?

thishollywood 16th-Nov-2012 06:32 pm (UTC)
no
imnotasquirrel 16th-Nov-2012 06:39 pm (UTC)
oh it's u

i'm not a vegan either...oop.
mmbien 16th-Nov-2012 06:48 pm (UTC)
i still think it's cruel tbh...i imagine there will be lots of people and noise and stuff. that's not a great environment for domestic animals. My dog gets sad if someone raises their voice :(
chimbleysweep 16th-Nov-2012 07:23 pm (UTC)
Yes. Domestic animals raised to perform (horses, dogs) will be totally used to what they're doing. Performing dogs are fucking adorable/astounding.

Although I am also a circus history fanatic so I know that your average circus person is not an abusive psychofuck, either.
courtkneee1 16th-Nov-2012 06:14 pm (UTC)
Ugh that's so cruel.

In other news I saw the film and it was maybe the worst one yet (actually I haven't watches them all)

The ending was hysterical though my friend and I were crying from laughter
psubookworm27 16th-Nov-2012 06:15 pm (UTC)
it's sooo sooo soo bad, isn't it? I mean....they look like causes them physical pain to say "I love you" to one another. I can't.
courtkneee1 16th-Nov-2012 06:30 pm (UTC)
Their scenes together are downright revolting but that standoff scene was a solid comedic performance
chandyland11 16th-Nov-2012 06:21 pm (UTC)
Really? I was shocked by how much better the last one was from the first four. The whole movie just felt like a subtle "fuck you" to the book series, and I loved the ending. And I liked that Bella wasn't such a fucking weak, whining toddler of a character like she is in the books and in all the other movies. She was actually almost tolerable. It was ten times better than the book.
psubookworm27 16th-Nov-2012 06:15 pm (UTC)
ugh. assholes.
liberateourtime 16th-Nov-2012 06:15 pm (UTC)
who the fuck has a cage of wolves at a party tho that's like asking for them to escape somehow and eat people
psubookworm27 16th-Nov-2012 06:16 pm (UTC)
given the guest list, I'm not sure that's a bad thing.
caitiecait 16th-Nov-2012 06:16 pm (UTC)
PETA is an embarrassment, but this is fucking appalling. Jesus christ.
a_new_haven 16th-Nov-2012 06:16 pm (UTC)
For once, I agree with Peta.
sowhat_whocares 16th-Nov-2012 06:16 pm (UTC)
I HATE PETA...but wow, thats fucking terrible.

thats so tasteless and gross...
christoph 16th-Nov-2012 06:16 pm (UTC)
I wish this was brought up by a different animal rights group that doesnt have the history of being a ridiculous laughing stock so that people would actually listen
orangeandblack 16th-Nov-2012 06:21 pm (UTC)
I have a feeling other groups probably will say something after hearing about it, PETA is just the one that gets the "media" attention. If that makes sense, my brain is all sorts of fried today.
mollyj1993 16th-Nov-2012 06:17 pm (UTC)
Wuut. I hate PETA but they are right about this.
lestat 16th-Nov-2012 07:04 pm (UTC)

mollyj1993 16th-Nov-2012 07:55 pm (UTC)
Why thank you!
vehiclesshockme 16th-Nov-2012 06:17 pm (UTC)
I would be more surprised at a "PETA does the dance of joy and is pleased about anything ever" post.
yurasama_love 16th-Nov-2012 06:17 pm (UTC)
Seriously fucked up.
squirrels_oh_no 16th-Nov-2012 06:17 pm (UTC)
If I went to that after party and saw that, I'd turn around, walk out, and call the SPCA.
warsawed 16th-Nov-2012 06:19 pm (UTC)
thank you.
squirrels_oh_no 16th-Nov-2012 06:28 pm (UTC)
Or the cops. I mean, it was clearly animal abuse subjecting wild animals to loud noise in a confined space.
chandyland11 16th-Nov-2012 06:22 pm (UTC)
I was actually invited to this party lmao... now I'm glad I couldn't go.
