SPAMMING this thread, sorry. But Irene was dead in the published ACD stories, originally. They were all told in flashback? They could go that way right? Might show us Holmes as an addict at the same time..
bodyline 16th-Nov-2012 04:44 am (UTC)
Was she actually dead or...? I know nothing of ACD canon.
britt_m_89 16th-Nov-2012 04:47 am (UTC)
She either died or became a widower.
fabouluz 16th-Nov-2012 04:48 am (UTC)
Everything is written a out Watson's past exploits with SH and Scotland Yard, it's in the past tense- from what i remember of it. This doesn't seem to be drifting that way tho.
meredydd 16th-Nov-2012 05:19 am (UTC)
After the original Irene story, she's mentioned just once more and referred to as "late" and by her married name, implying she'd died at some point after she married but it's never really said when it happened, like if it was while they were still young men chasing around London or years later, since Watson's stories were supposed to have been written during the retirement years.
weasleyswit 16th-Nov-2012 04:40 am (UTC)
Sherlock's frowny face reminds me of Tard the Grumpy Cat. I giggle every time.
joaniemaloney 16th-Nov-2012 04:49 am (UTC)
LMFAO OMG.
he really does have a fab grumpy face. :3
pantspolice 16th-Nov-2012 06:07 am (UTC)
LOL
deceitful 16th-Nov-2012 04:41 am (UTC)
I hope we don't see anymore of the ex partner that planted evidence. Not here for that fuckery.
ragechill 16th-Nov-2012 04:41 am (UTC)
So was it good?
pippopippo 16th-Nov-2012 04:45 am (UTC)
Pretty good. Case was all right (not as obvious as in eps 4-5) and Joan and Sherlock were great as always.
hyunnie_x 16th-Nov-2012 04:44 am (UTC)
mirroring everyone else: i don't believe irene is dead for a second, she is the only one smart enough to fool sherlock anyway

seriously love this show, i didn't figure out the case this week!
allysouu 16th-Nov-2012 04:44 am (UTC)
I liked this episode. Only thing I didn't like was the sex worker girl he found. Like, I liked how Sherlock reacted but it seemed like the plot was put in simply for his reaction and idk, didn't sit well.

Also I know that the main argument to anti Elementary people has been the showrunners have gone out of their way saying that Sherlock/Watson would never happen, but the shows making it really hard for me to not ship them.
britt_m_89 16th-Nov-2012 04:48 am (UTC)
I agree I am having a hard time not shipping them.
allysouu 16th-Nov-2012 04:52 am (UTC)
I feel like I might be more annoyed now if the show doesn't end with them together. Which is frustrating since I've had to fight people to get them to watch this show.
fabouluz 16th-Nov-2012 04:50 am (UTC)
I don't know why the sex slave thing has flagged up for some people. I just saw it as a ploy to show SH compassion/human side towards a distressed woman and also discounting a suspect in a dramatic way with showing Sherlock's deductive skills.
fauxkaren 16th-Nov-2012 04:54 am (UTC)
lol. I am embracing shipping them, but I know it won't happen on the show. (Or at least that's what the producers say and I'm inclined to believe them for a while.)
mellarks 16th-Nov-2012 04:54 am (UTC)
I'll ship it like a BOSS in fandom and hope it doesn't happen on the show.

Because I can.
blessedbell 16th-Nov-2012 06:04 am (UTC)
Jumping on the SS Joanlock, no shame~
pantspolice 16th-Nov-2012 06:08 am (UTC)
I ship em hard while at the same time wishing it to never become canon. does that make sense? lol
thethingiswhat 16th-Nov-2012 08:19 am (UTC)
It's hard for me not to ship them too. Even though they don't have that sexual "will they/won't they" in the plot the actors just have so much natural chemistry in scenes together that it's hard not to. I'm feeling less and less guilty about shipping them with every new episode.
devlinacardigan 16th-Nov-2012 05:54 pm (UTC)
I ship them so hard. I don't care what fandom thinks.
joaniemaloney 16th-Nov-2012 04:49 am (UTC)
CACKLING AT THE RINGTONE AND THE ORANGE THROWING.

sherlock was more irritable tonight and I know the ending is real sad and all but it was also pretty adorable.

OH, AND MORE ACCENTS!

ugh I love this show sfm. every Thursday I'm giddy when I get to watch it.
bodyline 16th-Nov-2012 04:52 am (UTC)
the random orange killed me omg
joaniemaloney 16th-Nov-2012 04:55 am (UTC)
and Bell pretty much going: 'WTF MAN' was great.

haha, we better get a gif of that.
whimsical_tale 16th-Nov-2012 04:56 am (UTC)
Liked the episode but I'm still irked by the fact that they continue to portray the relationship between Sherlock and Irene as more than it was. Their relationship was never romantic so it bothers me that its constantly being portrayed that way. :/
bodyline 16th-Nov-2012 05:03 am (UTC)
We don't yet know that it was romantic. Honestly I think they're deliberately leading us to believe that and are going to show later that it wasn't.
squirrels_oh_no 16th-Nov-2012 05:06 am (UTC)
OT, but is anyone here a human resources worker? I am having a conundrum and could use some advice about an internship and my supervisor promising me a job but not delivering except to say, "Next week!"
duchello 16th-Nov-2012 05:43 am (UTC)
I did human resources once, kinda, as a summer internship. I mean I'll listen but I don't know how much help I'll be.
squirrels_oh_no 16th-Nov-2012 05:46 am (UTC)
My supervisor has been stringing me along for seven months promising me a job that has yet to materialize because "it's being held up in corporate". Meanwhile, I've been applying for 300 other jobs with no real leads. A once cushy sounding job that fit my education and experience has now been replaced with "filing clerk".

Do I stay or do I leave?
opusdeihohoho 16th-Nov-2012 05:20 am (UTC)
is this a good show? i need something to marathon my debbie downer away
bodyline 16th-Nov-2012 05:22 am (UTC)
yes it's amazing
enslaved_cullen 16th-Nov-2012 05:29 am (UTC)

I can't stop laughing at Bell's face.
pettyscenes 16th-Nov-2012 05:31 am (UTC)
bell cracks me the fuck up. he's consistently nhf sherlock's nonsense.
duchello 16th-Nov-2012 05:42 am (UTC)
should I be watching this show? I feel like I should be watching this show.
joaniemaloney 16th-Nov-2012 06:53 am (UTC)
YES.

AND YES YOU ARE RIGHT.
fubukihakuryu 16th-Nov-2012 05:44 am (UTC)
I know that the relationships are the spotlight of the show, I just wish the cases were better? They just seem to lack any real climax or excitement.
executivehpfan 16th-Nov-2012 05:45 am (UTC)
Yeah, no, Irene definitely isn't dead. I bet she pulled a Reichenbach. Maybe had something to do with Moriarty, maybe she "overdosed" or something, but I bet she isn't dead.

And damn, JLM and his fucking sad faces. Ugggggh beautiful bastard.

I'm still not impressed with these cases. I knew it was the kid fifteen minutes before the reveal. STEP IT UP, ELEMENTARY.
fabouluz 16th-Nov-2012 01:33 pm (UTC)
You must be really smart, i thought this case was harrrrd
dannyupshaw 16th-Nov-2012 05:49 am (UTC)
