Kendall & Kylie model the hottest Prom Dress styles of 2012

The fashion icons get ready for prom.

Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian had better watch out - the Jenners are coming.
The reality stars' fresh-faced half-sisters Kendall and Kylie are fast building a fanbase to rival their hugely popular big sisters.

And it seems the pair have an advantage over their big sisters - with budding careers as models.

Young models Kendall and Kylie were picked to be the faces of a range of prom and pageant dresses by designer Sherri Hill.

The teen reality stars modelled a huge selection of dresses all embellished with sequins and featuring masses of tulle.

'Hi everyone. Just wanted to share some more pics from our Sherri Hill photo shoot,' Kylie wrote on her website on .

'Kendall and I got to wear the most AMAZING dresses and I’m so excited for you all to see how the final images turned out. I love getting glammed up with my sissy! So much fun :)'

According to Promgirl.com, Sherri Hill is the 'go-to' designer for homecoming, prom and pageant evening wear.

'Her unparalleled design achievements in the pageant industry include many current and past winners and contestants,' the site boasts. 'Eight of the Top Ten Miss USA 2009 finishers were wearing a Sherri Hill gown including the winner.'

The creations, which are also a favourite with pop-stars Selena Gomez and Carrie Underwood, start at $400 and rising up to $1200 for some of the more elaborate numbers.

In September the sisters also strutted their stuff in New York on the runway for the Evening Sherri Hill show.

Kendall, 17, and Kylie, 15, walked effortlessly in their sky high heels, also did the traditional curtain call with the designer at the end of the catwalk show.

The event, which took place at Trump Towers, was also attended by The Donald himself, owner of the Miss Universe pageant.

And Kylie and Kendall, the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, also recently announced that they are getting into the clothing design game with an eponymous clothing line.

Aimed at tweens and teens, it will debut next spring and include shirts, pants, shorts and accessories.

'We always get asked what we are wearing, so when we got the chance to design our line with Majestic Mills, we were thrilled,' the girls told People. 'We have been really excited by the creative design process from the start because we love fashion, and we can’t wait to share it with our fans!'

All of these look like drag pieces designed by Kayne from Project Runway.
farlist 15th-Nov-2012 10:28 pm (UTC)
Ah prom dresses, the epitome of tacky.
chaylay23 15th-Nov-2012 10:31 pm (UTC)
Its the freaking beading. There's a thin line btw tasteful and tacky as hell.

This reminds me exactly why I always made my own homecoming/prom dresses- I just... a few were cute, but meh.
elizabethemily5 15th-Nov-2012 10:34 pm (UTC)
I made my own prom dress too! It was a light peachy pink satin, and the straps were rhinestones, and they crisscrossed in the back. Simple but so pretty
calinewarkwc69 15th-Nov-2012 10:39 pm (UTC)
It sounds beautiful!!!!

Honestly, knowing how to design, make/use patters, and sew was the best thing my mother ever taught me. I loved going to events in dresses I made, and knowing that 1) No one else would have the same one (happened to my friend 3 dances in a row), and 2) the satisfaction of saying "I made it," when people say they love it and ask where you got it.

I have no idea, but even though this entire post is about prom dresses, I read your post as "I so do not miss porn."

chaylay23 15th-Nov-2012 10:30 pm (UTC)
Can we talk about our prom dresses?

I didn't get the signature long gown or the mullet dresses everyone else was wearing. I wore a purple, knee length dress from Charlotte Russe bc I ended up going at the last minute. Still loved it though :)
chuk_is_dazzled 15th-Nov-2012 10:32 pm (UTC)
mine was a long one strap dark blue dress from macy's, i bought it like a week and a half before prom lol
chaylay23 15th-Nov-2012 10:35 pm (UTC)
Our Macy's was pretty much empty the week before prom. Idk why my town decided to host all the proms within 2 weeks of each other. All 5 high schools so our malls were left with the reject dresses
tessselate 15th-Nov-2012 10:35 pm (UTC)
i got mine for $20 from a vintage store! i found out it was handmade and from the '70s. and it was way more badass (and much less obnoxious) than anyone else's! ;)
burn_a_miracle 15th-Nov-2012 10:35 pm (UTC)
Mine was pink, long and it was a halter. I got it at Group USA. My prom sucked.
deathbytamarind 15th-Nov-2012 10:38 pm (UTC)
Mine was a long black sheath with gold and silver swirl accents, low cut with spaghetti straps. It was sexy as hell and I got it at Burlington Coat Factory for like $35. Win.

My mom hit the roof when she saw it. my grandmother took me shopping and agreed it was the best dress for me. LOL @ my mom. Plus my date was hot and I had the best time ever. That was 12 years ago. !_!
addyit 15th-Nov-2012 10:42 pm (UTC)
we don't do proms, exactly... we have our grad ceremony, and then we either pay for the grad dinner or do our own thing.

it was mid to late nineties, and everyone was in a fever for regency style dresses with the empire waist. they're lovely, but i wasn't keen. i made my clothes and went barefoot with painted nails.

long silk trousers, black, and a dark blue top that was long and hung nearly to the knees. i based it on the styles i saw in the film "Scent of Green Papaya"- i loved the clothes in that. the clothes were vietnamese, but they were more everyday than extra fancy. i figured, i'm probably only going to wear it once- i'll wear what i like and pay what i like. it's why i didn't get shoes.
danne_gerous 15th-Nov-2012 10:46 pm (UTC)
My prom sucked, I hated my dress, and I left early to party with my friends.

I got my dress from a secondhand shop and my mom basically forced me to get the dress she wanted. Both junior and senior year. I destroyed every picture I could find cause those dresses were awful.
bienenkiste 15th-Nov-2012 10:47 pm (UTC)
Mine was pretty similar to this

except the sheer part was actually a cutout thing idk it's hard to explain

The tackiness at my prom was so fucking out of control though, there was some bitch wearing a replica of that halle berry Oscar dress i swear to god and her boobs were all over the place a damn MESS
lowlighter 15th-Nov-2012 10:54 pm (UTC)
lol I got mine for $60 at Macy's or Dillard's because I decided to go at the last minute. It was a pretty coral color, floor length with spaghetti straps. It was pretty simple but I liked it. I felt pretty that night. And had a blast haha.
redleigh86 15th-Nov-2012 10:56 pm (UTC)
I went to a dress-specific boutique. Had to make an appointment, but it was such an awesome experience, because they assigned you your own "stylist" who asked you questions about what you liked and based on that and your body-type and other stuff, would gather dresses for you to try, and then add shoes and jewelry and stuff to give you an idea of the whole look. It was loads of fun and made me feel so special... I enjoyed shopping for the dress more than going to prom lmao

But I went more classy and simply with my dress. It was a navy blue, strapless, floor-length, sweetheart neck a-line, with light beading around the bust. And I wore my hair in french twist with simple makeup. Definitely stood out amongst my classmates lmao Most girls looked like vegas showgirls or something.
expromqueen 15th-Nov-2012 10:58 pm (UTC)
i went to prom in 2001 so i wore a jessica mcclintock dress lol
gee 15th-Nov-2012 11:00 pm (UTC)
Sad cause I thought I had a pic, but I only have my tragic homecoming dresses lol. I wore the same one my oldest sister wore to her prom. It had boning in the top, went to about my knees with a poofed skirt. It was kind of a dark cream color + blue with umm idk how to describe the fabric. Kind of satinish without being ugly lol. Best dress there tbh.
ginger_maya 15th-Nov-2012 11:00 pm (UTC)
I had a long red silk dress with no sequins or beads or frills and black, above the elbow gloves.
rhythmicstereo 15th-Nov-2012 11:04 pm (UTC)
I had Notte by Marchesa short black dress with one shoulder and some ruffles. I was also the only girl wearing flats.
shadwrayvn 15th-Nov-2012 11:05 pm (UTC)
Mine was a silver corset top dress. I loved it since it held my boobs up really well! I went to some little dress shop & got my shoes & accessories in Mexico since it was cheaper than the stuff here in the US.
givemethepeasx 15th-Nov-2012 11:07 pm (UTC)
we had a debs instead of a prom but i wore a long royal blue dress. it was gorgeous tbh. i'd still wear it if i had an occasion for it.
hoot 15th-Nov-2012 11:09 pm (UTC)
I remember wanting this really pretty floor length sheath dress but my mom said it made me look fat, so instead I wore a big poofy black dress with flowers embroidered on it from David's Bridal. It was pretty but I was so bummed because I liked that other dress more.
supermishelle 15th-Nov-2012 11:23 pm (UTC)
Mine basically looked like this one

except the dress was white and the jewels were way smaller and the jewels were clear and pink.
fabby 15th-Nov-2012 11:35 pm (UTC)
My prom was in 1988. My dress was black velvet on top and gold lame on the bottom. The top was sleeveless mock turtleneck, open in the back. Dress was knee-length. And there was a big butt bow made out of the gold fabric. It sounds ugly, I know, but I still think it was a pretty cute and unique dress for the late 80s. I got it at a bridal shop.
warsawed 16th-Nov-2012 12:12 am (UTC)
Mine was very similar to this:

only more fitted at the top and it puffed out a bit more. My prom was in 2004 and my date hated it. :( He was kind of a jerk that night but its all good bc I ended up making out with someone else.
georgie_georgie 16th-Nov-2012 12:39 am (UTC)
I had sexy red one and a lime green puffy skirt one. They were gorgeous for the year 2002 and 2003.
chenoweth 16th-Nov-2012 12:52 am (UTC)
Both were from Dillards. One was bright orange/neon pink and the other was a basic black/white glittery strapless mess
mhfromnh 16th-Nov-2012 01:19 am (UTC)
turquoise/robins egg satiny dress from JC Penny, floor length with kinda-halter sweetheart neckline and bead trim.
obnoxygen My prom dress.16th-Nov-2012 02:02 am (UTC)
I loved my prom dress. Demolished my competition. XD
It was cream, but didn't look like an outright wedding dress like the other white dresses.

Nah, I got mine from Goodwill for $5. It was pretty evening dress-esque but by no means a prom dress.

w/e, looking back at it there's really no reason to spend that much on a dress anyway.
chuk_is_dazzled 15th-Nov-2012 10:31 pm (UTC)
the long pale pink one is cute, the rest...eh they are prom dresses after all
addyit 15th-Nov-2012 10:37 pm (UTC)
no excuses... bad taste is forever!

i liked the pink one, too, strangely... that and the red one. it was the style and color, respectively.
anus 15th-Nov-2012 10:32 pm (UTC)
Why is it mandatory for your prom dress to be as tacky as possible? Why don't girls want to look like they came off the red carpet?
duckyduck92 15th-Nov-2012 10:34 pm (UTC)
Seriously, and these dresses aren't cheap either
anus 15th-Nov-2012 10:36 pm (UTC)
I would want something simpler from rent the runway D:
thedpmiss 15th-Nov-2012 10:40 pm (UTC)
I guess red carpet clothes in their eyes are too understated. People want to stand out on their big night and let the dress do all the talking.
ericasays 15th-Nov-2012 10:51 pm (UTC)
lol you have to remember, girls at prom are only 16-17ish...

that being said, my friend's prom dress was silver silk floor length with spaghetti straps and matching silver shoes. and this was in 1999, lordy lordy.
hoot 15th-Nov-2012 11:10 pm (UTC)
Because they're teenagers, lol.
meow_tan 15th-Nov-2012 11:11 pm (UTC)
bcz we want to be as ott as possible <3

idk i have tacky ridic tastes in clothing so thats my excuse but i dont speak for my fellow teen peers.
moonlight_vlora 16th-Nov-2012 02:06 pm (UTC)
If proms existed in Italy I would totally choose an Anne Hathaway red carpet style.
truexillusions 15th-Nov-2012 10:32 pm (UTC)
I actually want to throw up from the ugly.
mingemonster 15th-Nov-2012 10:33 pm (UTC)
Middle girl in the first pic looks like Lucy Griffiths
duckyduck92 15th-Nov-2012 10:33 pm (UTC)
Bah prom dress shopping was the worst. Big boobs + broad shoulders = worst experience ever.
mrcelebrity 15th-Nov-2012 10:33 pm (UTC)
This is probably the only cute one!
kydeon 15th-Nov-2012 10:34 pm (UTC)
such an unfortunate shot though lol
chaylay23 15th-Nov-2012 10:35 pm (UTC)
I think so too. My school's dress code would've prevented it, tho.
mrcelebrity 15th-Nov-2012 10:38 pm (UTC)
Really? Did you go to a private school? In Girl World, prom is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it.
alexander2808 15th-Nov-2012 10:33 pm (UTC)
DAMN Kendall looks gorgeous on every single shot, Kylie on the other hand....
