The entitlement slays me. I don't remember McCain or Palin pulling this last election, did they?

It was really different. The Tea Party shit hadn't happened yet. And Republican's made their big anti-abortion and contraception push with the 2010 midterms.

McCain (reportedly) wanted to take the high road. He's also a guy who abandoned a lot of his positions in his run for president, but he never went to the "The other side is all dirty brown people who want free stuff!" route. He didn't come from wealth, he didn't have a Tea Party challenge from the right, etc.

But Republicans do tend to roll out the "omg spending and entitlements!" angle when they are running against a Dem incumbent.

With a better running mate, McCain may well have won in 2008. Palin just destroyed any chance he had, she was a menace.

When McCain hid his darkskinned adopted daughter (in the 'family portraits' her absence was explained by her 'being away at school) kinda cemented my side eye of him. I'm surprised that the media didn't get into that Keaton scandal, as well as the scandal with his wife (before people butt in about families being off limits - remember these people dug up an old Sociology report of Michelle Obama when she was finishing up an undergrad in college and tried to make hay out of the fact of her belief that as a minority she found the Ivy League college she was a part of to be not so welcoming).

I think George Bush broke Mccain in 2004 with the robo calls that Karl Rove had done, saying that his adopted daughter was the offspring between him and a black woman, and that McCain had her by cheating on his wife. He embraced Karl Rove and the same party that was trying to destroy him.

McCain deserved what he got, tbh.

I thought Palin was pretty bad/ crazy.

I always thought how crazy it was that people were all over Obama's college records (never mind the fact that you can find interviews and paper trails of Obama from the time he was a student of Harvard Law Review), but when it came to Palin and the four colleges she hopscotched around (from Hawaii to the Midwest), Palin's records have yet to be unearthed. No one has yet to speak to her professors, or people willing to go on record like they did to the Obamas.

But a lot of the press was all, "Oh, but we know Sarah Palin." Get outta here with that BS, man (not you, rabbit, just in general).
