AHS is renewed for a third season!

American Horror Story is getting a third season.

The FX horror anthology shock-fest will return for 13 more episodes next fall from executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.

“With American Horror Story: Asylum, Ryan and Brad have raised the bar in every way from Murder House, the first American Horror Story miniseries,” said FX president and general manager John Landgraf. “And their original idea—the notion of doing an anthological series of miniseries with a repertory cast—has proven groundbreaking, wildly successful and will prove to be trendsetting. We can’t wait to see what deviously brilliant ideas they come up with for their third miniseries.”

samesies :( i totes agree. and they used to give lobotomies and EST out like candy so while i'm sure nothing like briarcliff or whatever the fuck its called existed to this degree, freaky and unjust things def went down in these institutions. my grandmother a few months ago was briefly in a state psych ward and said it was the most horrible thing ever, and thats in today;s world, and nothing even remotely scary or wrong happened while she was there

Yeah those place are pretty terrifying. And then there's the whole mad nazi doctor doing medical experiments storyline. I read about some of the real accounts of it, and the stuff they did was just...beyond horrific and sadistic.

:( so sad. do you think dr. arden was definitely a nazi? it appears 'anne frank's' husband was a nazi. do u think he knew arden? (stretch i know) just weird he would sit in on the lobotomy

do you have any links to the real accounts? I don't watch this show (I watched S1 but I keep hearing that this season is horrible, plus something about using mental hospitals as ~spooky entertainment doesn't sit well with me) but I didn't know one of the characters was based on a real specific person

I don't think he is outwardly based since him being a nazi is just one storyline, but if so it would be Josef Mengle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josef_Mengele
