Sam Raimi to adapt YA sensation ANGELFALL

Good Universe to Adapt 'Angelfall' With Sam Raimi Producing

Good Universe and Sam Raimi are teaming to develop an adaptation of the postapocalyptic angel-themed young-adult book Angelfall.

The company, Raimi and his producing partner Robert Tapert have picked up movie rights to the Susan Ee-penned tome as well as the series Penryn & the End of Days, in which Angelfall is the first book. Raimi will produce with Tapert.

Angelfall was released Aug. 28 by Amazon Children's Publishing but previously had generated heat as a self-published e-book. It was a finalist for the 2011 Cybils award for best young-adult fantasy and science fiction and was ranked No. 1 on Goodreads' list of best independent novels.

The story is set weeks after angels of the apocalypse wreak revenge against mankind for the killing of Archangel Gabriel. When 17-year-old Penryn fails to escort her mother and wheelchair-bound sister to safety, she teams with a handsome young angel with clipped wings, braving evil seraphs, human gangs and cannibals in a quest to find her sister.
Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane will executive produce.

Paradigm repped Ee in the deal. (The agency's Lucy Stille first read Angelfall as an e-book.) Aaron Lam brought the book to the producers. Nicole Brown will oversee for Good Universe.

I know this is an ONTD favorite, which makes the second bit of news more awesome you guys - BOOK TWO IS COMING OUT ONE YEAR FROM NOW. Gah, that's 2 years of waiting since book one. Blah. And yes, the uninitiated, this one is legit good.

eh... it's nowhere close to a Patch, but he has his moments.

What's actually good it's the mosters, the tension, and after reading a few Y.A. I applaud the fact that there is a story.

Don't. EVERYONE needs to read this. I am not kidding. I stan so hard for this book.
The "bad boy" is really not. There's no stupid love triangle. No full blown romance - just some slight attraction that doesn't take up a lot.
LOTS of sniping, great friendships, loyalty, badass, smart, resourceful, girl. SCARY scifi stuff.
I will pimp this to the day I die. REAAAD.

Well, I'm surprised to see a YA book get such high praise on ONTD so I'll read it.

I agree. The romance isn't heavy and if anything their relationship is developed and not forced. If anything their developing partnership is really was strong about them and how they came to work and trust each other's back was what really made it for me.

lololol I love your stanning. I'll give it a read then.

Coincidentally a friend with good taste just recommended this one too me, so I guess I'll get on it.

LOL don't, IDK what this girl is on but he's not your YA 'bad boy'.
