Carrie Fisher Wants Princess Leia To Kill Han Solo

It’s been reported that Harrison Ford is interested in returning for Star Wars Episode VII. It’s also been speculated that if he returns he might stipulate in his contract that Han Solo be killed off, marking the final appearance of the character. In the past, Harrison Ford has stated that he thought Han Solo should have died in Return of the Jedi, but George Lucas wouldn’t allow it.

Now, with Disney having announced that Star Wars Episode VII is in the works, Harrison Ford might finally get his death wish, and it looks like one of his co-stars is interested in doing the deed. In an appearance on The Talk on Tuesday, Carrie Fisher was asked about Princess Leia returning in Star Wars sequels.

Fisher said, “I like the idea of being Mrs. Solo, when we’ve just fought and fought, and I killed him.” However, Fisher also expressed that Princess Leia would feel remorseful for putting an end to Han Solo. Fisher added, “But I’m sorry. I’m sorry, that’s right. I feel badly, and I probably had an affair with some general.”

With all the rumored Star Wars plot lines, Carrie Fisher seems to be proposing one of the most interesting ones yet. Harrison Ford wants Han Solo to die, so why not let Princess Leia kill him. Audiences would never see that one coming. Han Solo put down by a remorseful, cheating spouse.

Didn't Lucas do a rough plot outline for all nine movies when he started? Or shortly after the first movie?

Update: Yep, he did.

lol ikr. They only decided to make them related after Mark Hamill was in a motorcycle accident iirc.

The focus would be on Luke Skywalker’s journey to becoming the premier Jedi knight, with Luke's sister (who was not Leia) appearing in Episode VIII

LOL WAT who's the 3rd skywalker

He did, sorta, but then it was revised as he was writing ESB and ROTJ. Leia wasn't originally the other Skywalker (see: Splinter of the Mind's Eye) and Vader wasn't their father. And at one point, the prequels were to focus on Obi-Wan. The idea of following Anakin's fall and redemption came later.

GL has not been consistent with his time line, either. Sometimes he's said there was always meant to be 9, sometimes he's said he envisioned 6, and sometimes's he's said he didn't look past the first movie because he was sure the studio would never greenlight another flick.

He also swore to a magazine (I think it was Time ?) during the filming of ROTJ that'd he'd never make another SW movie. He changes his mind a lot.

Well he's conflicted; so his mind changing is understandable. The time requirements for those movies and creative energy needed is enormous. It has to be a mentally exhausting process.

And he also was starting his family, so time home with the kids was a priority and it was a good cut off point. I give GL a lot more leeway than most. I like the PT, even. /shrug

But it does muck up any plans he may have had right after ANH was released. So we can't really look at any of his 'Journal of the Whills' stuff and expect the sequels to follow it too closely. Wwhatever he'd thought at that time a sequel trilogy would cover probably wouldn't even work now that he tied off the loose ends in ROTJ.

Yeah, I know that. He'll make modifications or suggest modifications to the plot lines obviously. My broader point was he envisioned 9 movies originally. The fact he changes his mind, makes bad plot decisions that pisses off fans, etc, is meaningless to me. The movies are entertainment pieces, and I will more than likely enjoy the newest batch no doubt. Unless Disney executives stick their noses in where they shouldn't belong.
