Pippa Middleton's book flops; plus, some captain obvious advice

Pippa Middleton has reportedly refused to do any promotion interviews for her book Celebrate as she fears embarrassing her sister Kate and brother-in-law Prince William because the book has managed to sell only 5,000 copies, despite her 4,00,000-pound advance.

Two weeks ago, the 29-year-old socialite helped publisher Penguin launch her party planning book in a blaze of publicity.

The book is being sold for a discounted price of 12 pounds and 13 pounds, down from it’s initial price of 25 pounds.

The book has slumped to 177 in Amazon’s UK book charts, and Penguin is in danger of failing to recoup its generous advance.

In America, the book was ranked at 303 by Amazon.

4.
"A really late start warrants brunch, in lieu of lunch."

5.
"There is something very British about tea."

Entertaining:

7.
"Don't forget to put a pitcher of water and glasses on the table or a nearby side table if there's no room."

8.

12.
"Keep your campfire a manageable size, making sure water is always nearby just in case."

"[F]lowers are a traditional Valentine's token, and red roses are the classic symbol of romance, be it a dozen hand tied in a beautiful bouquet or simply a single stem."

17.
"Switch off the television to play cards or a board game for two. Backgammon is a personal favorite, but I always forget how to set up pieces on a board, so use the photograph [of a set board included in Celebrate] to avoid any potential disagreements."

Gift-wrapping:

18.
"A well-wrapped gift helps express how much thought you've put into it. Don't forget to remove the price tag from the gift..."

i think it was more the press that ran with the "pippas ass is fabulous and so is she" and just forced it into the public

you dont need a huge ass to have a great ass; have you seen her sisters ass? my god, her ass is incredible I aint gonna lie. those nekkid pictures of her on vacation, albeit invasive, were highly flattering.

meh i follow a lot of british comedians/actors and i remember all of them freaking out over pippa, it wasn't just the press
alienclit 14th-Nov-2012 05:35 am (UTC)
They're still a part of the media tho and not the general population.
kurtvonnegut 14th-Nov-2012 05:37 am (UTC)
meh i disagree but i can see what you mean. regardless the media is turning against her as well. it just makes me rme to see that they made her "happen" when she didn't really ask for it and now it's a free for all to insult her looks like she came out trying to upstage kate or something
alienclit 14th-Nov-2012 05:40 am (UTC)
Yeah it's really exploitative. She's not the one who's with a royal to begin with.

Most people I know couldn't have given a shit about her, or her arse. And I'm middle-class in the South of England where she would probably garner more 'fans'.

It was all the media trying to force her on us - it's like saying that the American public are in love with Kim Kardashian.
