CBS: 'Partners' Is Certain To Be Canceled, Why Didn't It Get Pulled For 'Rules Of Engagement'

CBS typically cancels its lowest rated sitcom each season, so rookie sitcom Partners has been certain to be canceled from the day its ratings stumbled out of the gate. It's likely still on the air because of the economic reality for stocking up on replacement shows I wrote about in the ABC post this week.

Although CBS could have put Rules of Engagement in its slot quickly the same way they did for How To Be A Gentleman last season. Perhaps they have other plans for Rules, or perhaps there's some problem with mid-season sitcom Friend Me that we don't know about. CBS' future actions this season may shed light on why, or we may never know.

CBS’ Partners last night sustained the steepest week-to-week drop of any Monday program, falling 14 percent in the demo to a 1.8 — the freshman sitcom’s lowest rating to date — while holding steady in total audience (with 5.6 million viewers).
