I think, maybe the guy thought he could shake Sesame St down and nothing would come of it, but once TMZ got a hold of it *and* Sesame St refused to pay there was no point trying to continue it. Plus, he can retract and since his name isn't in the press he won't even get in trouble for it (publicly).
