LISTEN to the complete The Hobbit soundtrack

Yesterday Peter Jackson and team unveiled Neil Finn's song from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Today, we have the full soundtrack for your listening pleasure, and it's embedded below. Listen, enjoy and get a taste of what we're in for come December 13 when the film hits screens.

Howard Shore is the composer here, building on his own work from The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. You'll hear very specific echoes of elements from that work throughout the whole album, giving this a clear link to our first adventures in Middle-earth, but there are new themes here for the new characters too.

Unfortunately, because of copyright concerns, the widget doesn't allow you to skip from track to track, but you can listen to the full thing here, which we think is worth that slight inconvenience.

This soundtrack will be available to buy on December 10 in a regular and deluxe edition from all good retailers both physical and digital, and you can pre-order it at the link above. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey of course hits cinemas on December 13, and you can read all about it in the current issue of Empire, either in all good newsagents or on the iPad edition or US iPad edition.

I'm listening right now and Howard Shore did such a good job. As soon as it started referencing "Concerning Hobbits" and the other Fellowship themes, I was ready to bawl my eyes out.
anchors_oceans 13th-Nov-2012 07:51 pm (UTC)
as i read this comment, the concerning hobbits part came on and i was like OH GOD KJFGURGIWEUHFUDSJN!!! :')

Ugh at not being able to skip. I just want to hear Richard's voice. I need those songs in my life.

Asking for this for Christmas
crayzee_mouse 13th-Nov-2012 07:34 pm (UTC)
Waaaaaaaaaaaaah! I will listen to this when I have time, but am totally bookmarking it! Yay!
aredhela 13th-Nov-2012 07:34 pm (UTC)
This is so stupid, but I feel like I'm 14 again.
doverz 13th-Nov-2012 07:35 pm (UTC)
It would be nice if it would at least change the names of the songs on this instead of being stuck on My Dear Frodo.
mwstrawberries 13th-Nov-2012 07:39 pm (UTC)
They do. As it goes on it'll change to the next song. I think it's like 5 minutes in?
doverz 13th-Nov-2012 07:42 pm (UTC)
I meant I wish that as the music would change into a different song that it would put what the title of that song is instead of just My Dear Frodo the whole time.
piratesswoop 13th-Nov-2012 07:48 pm (UTC)
it does, my dear frodo is like 5 mins long with a lot of themes in it but the song names do change
madcowre 13th-Nov-2012 07:50 pm (UTC)
lol I thought that too. I didn't realize, Mr Dear Frodo lasted nearly 10 minutes.
venus_orbiting 13th-Nov-2012 07:36 pm (UTC)
It's so so SO hard to resist, but I'm not going to listen. I want to hear it for the first time in the context of the movie.
cuteej4 13th-Nov-2012 07:37 pm (UTC)
I pretty much am listening up until Misty Mountains because I want to hear it so bad
_dennis_csi_ 13th-Nov-2012 07:39 pm (UTC)
same
showmesara 13th-Nov-2012 07:46 pm (UTC)
yeah same for me.
adlanth 13th-Nov-2012 08:26 pm (UTC)

Same. Not listening. I think I did it with RotK but not this time, if I can help it.
Anyway, if there's one thing I'm not worried about, it's the soundtrack. In Shore I trust.
