AnnaLynne McCord takes to twitter to defend sister, calls out faux fashion show

Wow, that is fucked up- but also, how would you not know? I mean, a fashion show seems like it would have a lot of hooplah around it? Like, if you were gonna model, wouldn't you have to meet with designers, creative directors, stage directors, etc? I mean, wouldn't you be slightly suspicious if someone was like "hey, want to be in a fashion show? Here's your thong, be at this address..."

Wouldn't you be suspicious when you google an address for a fashion show and it's a house?

I don't know how it all works, but I feel like her sister should have seen the red flags from a mile away.

the sister might have worked with "jessica flores" before and trusts her from experience

exactly. Even agents or agencies that are "legit" can set this type of shit up.

people book lots of gigs without necessarily knowing beforehand what they are walking into

it happens a lot unfortunately. Even w/ so called "reputable" agencies and agents.

They tell these girls they've set up a show for them and when the girl arrives---this is what it is. And sometimes you either do it or you get blackballed.

And in the case of girls from other countries who get stranded somewhere else---you either do it or you starve.

Not good. Not good at all. It's even worse that women/people feel like they have to do this... for what? For the glory of fame? Please. Fame is not what it's cut out to be.

This is a great example of why I would not survive in the entertainment industry, I am waaayyyy too suspicious about everything.

Some do it b/c they see it as a way to get money quickly--which if you're really poor in some Eastern Euro or war torn country, seems like a good idea if someone offers.

They don't realize the tons of risks behind it or that there are always predators out there. :(

To be fair most models nowadays are from the developing world like Eastern Europe and Russia. There is so much poverty in those areas, Romania actually has the highest amount of homeless kids in the West. These models were forced into modelling because they need to survive so they do it for money and survival.

The models from Western Europe and North America probably do it for the fame and recognition though. Some girls may do it for confidence, others do it to escape from poverty.

I have a very dear friend who came to the states from Romania when she was 13- her whole family came over because her dad won a visa lottery- and her mom would tell me horror stories about how women are treated and objectified in that part of the world, which is why she gave up everything to come to the USA, because she wanted her kids to have all the opportunities that there are here... so I understand it from that point of view, but... the girl in question for this article is American, no?

I mean, obviously, we will all delude our common sense a little when we REALLY want something to be "the chance" we've been waiting for- and I wouldn't blame someone for being duped, but, I think especially in that industry, you need to have your bullshit detectors working more overtime than usual.

Also, I love your icon.

There are a lot of lower-rent runway shows that happen in tiny venues (including people's homes) and are perfectly legit. So I can see how red-flags wouldn't necessarily have been raised until she actually got there.

Wealthy or important people sometimes have private viewings in their homes. Remember the private show in Devil Wears Prada? Rachel might have assumed the show was for someone really famous or that it was going to be a photoshoot. Shoots happen in rich-people houses all the time.

Still not any kind of justification for assholes to exploit people like that. Even if you might be an idiot, it doesn't absolve assholes from their responsibility.
