Limited Brands/Victoria's Secret Spokesperson Offers Apology To Offended Individuals



Native Appropriations just received the following apology from Tammy Robert Myers, a spokesperson for Limited Brands:

"We are sorry that the Native American headdress replica used in our recent fashion show has upset individuals. (AKA we're sorry you got offended). We sincerely apologize as we absolutely had no intention to offend anyone. Out of respect, we will not be including the outfit in any broadcast, marketing materials nor in any other way."

GET A FUCKING CLUE PEOPLE. it blows my mind that NO ONE on either this or the NoDoubt set questioned what they were doing enough to halt production. I mean these are HIGHLY EDUCATED, SMART people who run these big productions and NO ONE has any type of common sense

ehhhhhh, most probably only have bachelors if that. and bachelors in like, PR or something doesn't require a lot of ethnic studies courses.

also, there are tons of sycophants in these industries. people will agree with those in charge no matter what. a dissenting opinion means you insult the ~artiste~ and you risk your job. even if someone realized it was offensive, they probably didnt say anything for those reasons

Most of the fashion industry wouldn't have done what VS just did.

They made an outfit, it got a horrible reaction, the pulled it, apologized and moved on.

Most fashion shows would never do that.

Limited Brands is one of the worst companies when it comes to ethics and follow-through on claims, especially in the 'environmental practices' department.

They don't give commission to any sales associate in their stores but operate on a sales-based hours policy - if you suck at sales they'll give you ONE 4 hour shift until you quit. At Victoria's Secret the store manager got a $6500 bonus for our Christmas sales - the associates who make it happen after "coaching" don't even get a party.

seriously reconsidering my decision to shop there. most things are overpriced and poorly made. I guess it's the Body Shop this year (again) for Christmas shopping.
