Ratings: ‘Undercover Boss’ sinks ‘Malibu Country’; ‘Nikita,’ ‘Grimm’ drop

After last night’s stellar Friday across the board for TV, you knew that those numbers were not going to be able to stay that strong forever. With that in mind, we now have some not-so-great news to share for a number of the programs that were on the schedule.
But why not start things off here with the one network that has something to be excited about? Out of nowhere “Undercover Boss” rose to a 2.0 rating and nine million viewers for its second episode this season, a sign that this show more than any other is the sort of thing that can fluctuate depending on whatever it is put around. “Blue Bloods” later in the night also rose to its highest rating in weeks in a 1.5, which helps out its season 4 chances by quite a bit despite some of the turmoil behind the scenes.

Now, the bad news. ABC’s comedy lineup took a steep hit this week, with “Malibu Country” losing over 25% of its viewing audience for its premiere by sinking to a 1.6. “Last Man Standing” finished with the same number, while “Shark Tank” topped the night with a 2.1 that was still down from the 2.3 rating the show drew last week.

Over on NBC, “Grimm” dropped to a 1.7 rating that makes us ask a very important question: why isn’t this show getting a proper lead-in? Everyone else on the schedule has one, but it feels almost like the network is not giving what is a major success story more help. On a different note, the only help “Nikita” needs at this point is help getting off of the stretcher. Despite its syndication potential, its 0.3 rating more or less makes it a dead show walking … even if it is shifting to an 8:00 timeslot in a few weeks.

Will Nikita be helped by moving back to its earlier time slot with Arrow repeats?  Will Grimm finally get a good lead in?  Will Fringe ever stop breaking our hearts? All this and more in the comments.

I think one of the reasons Nikita struggles so much is that they're still people who think its not a good show because its network and its a remake of sorts and they just havent choose to watch it. Its been like that since its first season. I can't blame the promos though, because sporadic as people think they are, they still get slots on the other nights and a bit of billboard advertising.
What's even more strange is, although it is exported internationally..I dont know if people check for it overseas. I have both seasons on DVD and never seen them chart in the UK despite the fact its on a lot on Sky Living I havent seen a lot of people talk about (usually its sci-fi shows and teen soaps than are the import talk here).
Same thing with the Middle East, its on a lot on MBC action which is one of the more larger accessible channels and is promoted but I dont know if people talk about there.

Its sort of being ignored by assumption sadly.

I didn't watch it at first because everyone said it was a dying show, guaranteed not to make it past its first season (and here we are on season three).

Doesn't help that it's on the CW which has a reputation for being craptastic.

are you a UK watcher? I am and I've never found anyone else who watches it (except my best friends because I introduced it to her)
