Blogger writes open letter to Roseanne Barr about Transphobic tweets - Roseanne responds angrily
Ariel Silvera, an LGBTQ activist and blogger based in Ireland and the UK has written an open letter - entitled An Open Letter to Roseanne Barr, From a Feminist Sister - to Roseanne Barr, in response to transphobic tweets which the actress posted in October.
In the open letter - seen HERE - Silvera, who is a feminist trans woman from Argentina, calls attention to Barr's offensive, sweeping statements, and her announcement that "women do not want your penises forced in their faces or in our private bathrooms. respect that FACT".

that she was talking about and the second she mentioned that this person was transgendered everyone who was anyone attacked her and completely blew what she said out of proportion. But now she's just up shit creek without a paddle.
I went off on her in an email after a homophobic rant she made, saying that gay people needed to get over gay marriage, and start focusing on the economy. I pointed out to her: marriage equality = economics (taxes, benefits), and I doubt Sara Gilbert would appreciate her saying such crap. I told her that the gay community was a big backer of her career, and was responsible for a lot of her success. I told her that she just fucked over her base, she's entitled to her opinion, but don't expect us to continue to open our wallets to her. In a few hours she apologized. Roseanne's brother and sister are gay, btw.
Roseanne's really pissed over losing the election, but she did get the Freedom Party nomination, and almost got the Green one.
I saw her years ago spouting out stupid idealistic shit on Real Time and it was sad how stupid she was about most things.

That aside, Roseanne is one of my fav shows of all time and seeing how batshit she ended up really cuts me so deep.

The pilot she did recently for a new sitcom with John Goodman sounded like it was a soapbox with characters created around it. Whoopi Goldberg did this with her cancelled show years ago. "Roseanne" set the characters, their problems and stories at the forefront. The issues of a blue color family was political automatically.
