Sad as it sounds, I'm going to make my very first salad for dinner tonight!! Not quite sure how to go about it, but so far I have lettuce, peppers, carrots, mackerel chunks, walnuts, sesame oil, chilli olive oil, mango and sweet chilli sauce, green and red pesto, and cheese, so I'm figuring I can just throw a bunch of that stuff in a bowl and I'm good to go lol?
hearxmexrawr 9th-Nov-2012 05:33 pm (UTC)
I mean...if that's what you like go for it
theciz 9th-Nov-2012 05:34 pm (UTC)
As long as I don't put too many things in and make an abomination, I'm willing to call it a success.
onyxobsidian 9th-Nov-2012 05:33 pm (UTC)
A salad can be whatever you want it to be, really
orangeandblack 9th-Nov-2012 05:36 pm (UTC)
That sounds like a lot going on, I'd simple it down a little bit or it may be overpowering, tbh.

But if you like all those flavors together, who am I to say different. Work it, bb.
misscrystal 9th-Nov-2012 05:40 pm (UTC)
Pretty much! Just make sure the ingredients complement each other. I love to do theme salads for dinner like "pizza salad" (tomato vinaigrette, cheese, mushrooms, chicken, black olives, etc etc) or "Mexican salad" or "Thai peanut" salad and so on.
chibi 9th-Nov-2012 05:54 pm (UTC)
i say everything there except the pestos, walnuts, and cheese sounds like it would be a good salad. sesame oil is really strong, so maybe a drop or two as a finisher might be nice if you want a nutty component, or just leave it out entirely.
twowaymirrrors 9th-Nov-2012 06:05 pm (UTC)
I would skip some of that. Maybe make a dressing with the chili olive oil, sweet chili sauce and some mango? More of the last two and less of the first, though.
mydogfred 9th-Nov-2012 07:40 pm (UTC)
my favorite salad usually includes Spinach greens, blue cheese/gorgonzola crumbles, walnuts and cranberries with some Balsamic or Sun dried tomato dressing

i wouldn't throw on all of the ingredients you listed above as it may be overpowering
cutiepie0304 9th-Nov-2012 05:32 pm (UTC)
The roof of my mouth is KILLING me. I think I cut it on a Tootsie roll pop last weekend. I can't eat without it hurting and burning. I have no idea how to make it go away :(
orangeandblack 9th-Nov-2012 05:41 pm (UTC)
Its been a week and still hurts?! Mouth cuts seem to usually heal better than that :( I'm so sorry, love. I hope it heals soon, I don't know of anything you can do for mouth wounds like that. Have you taken any pain pills for it before you eat?
ztrellitaa 9th-Nov-2012 05:49 pm (UTC)
Do mouth washes with bicarbonate.
thewunderland 9th-Nov-2012 06:08 pm (UTC)
Honey might work
devochkazhenya 9th-Nov-2012 05:32 pm (UTC)
I went to the midnight premiere of Skyfall even though I had an early morning class.
muffledlaugh 9th-Nov-2012 06:34 pm (UTC)
WAS IT AMAZING????

I'm going tomorrow night with my dad and I can't waittt!!
devochkazhenya 9th-Nov-2012 06:37 pm (UTC)
I loved it. LOVED. IT.
Its visually stunning but also kind of compelling to me (?) which is something that I wasnt expecting to feel going into a bond film. It has all the tropes we associate with and love about Bond movies but there’s also a really dark undertone to it.I don’t think I remember watching a Bond movie with such high stakes in it. The only mild complaint (without giving to much away) I have about Skyfall is the almost heavy handed usage of the Rebirth of Bond/’Old Dog New Tricks’ theme.
oblivious_frog 9th-Nov-2012 05:33 pm (UTC)
LOL I think I love that gif way too much
redaodai 9th-Nov-2012 05:33 pm (UTC)

i just made it through a week of one spanish project and test in one day, one history test, one acting project midterm and a project show for my film class AND today i get to write a script and finish a book on ZOCH and write a paper and make spanish flashcards!
judgmental 9th-Nov-2012 05:34 pm (UTC)
Also, I haven't really been in school for like two weeks now. Classes got cancelled last week because of Sandy and this week almost all my professors cancelled too.
goofusgallant 9th-Nov-2012 07:07 pm (UTC)
Same.
It's going to be a nightmare returning to class and making up the missed time.
deja_vu822 9th-Nov-2012 05:35 pm (UTC)
i'm going to my friend's house tonight to make pumpkin gnocchi.

Photobucket

i've never made gnocchi before (or really, like, anything because i don't cook) and i think she's only made it once and it wasn't easy so this could end up going very badly.
dannysstargirl 9th-Nov-2012 05:38 pm (UTC)
that looks amazing.
muffledlaugh 9th-Nov-2012 06:35 pm (UTC)
Good gnocchi can be tough to pull off, but good luck! Either way, even bad gnocchi is still tasty, lol

dannysstargirl Advice please9th-Nov-2012 05:35 pm (UTC)
How long do you think is long enough to talk to someone online before meeting them in person? I've never met anyone that way before, and I have no idea how to go about this.
nicoolesays Re: Advice please9th-Nov-2012 05:39 pm (UTC)
I think it depends on the chemistry between you two. But if you haven't tried video chatting yet, maybe that could be a first step?
hearthecity Re: Advice please9th-Nov-2012 05:44 pm (UTC)
As long as you're meeting them in a public place, once or twice seems like enough.
joliebelle Re: Advice please9th-Nov-2012 05:47 pm (UTC)
Depends on your comfort level and trust with that person. I met my now Fiance online, but we were friends for like 5 years before we ever met in person
sastra_fuss Re: Advice please9th-Nov-2012 06:27 pm (UTC)
It doesn't matter. Just meet in a public place you are familiar with and have an escape plan, i mean, excuse ready if you want to leave and never see them again.
muffledlaugh Re: Advice please9th-Nov-2012 06:36 pm (UTC)
Depends, really.

I've talked to people for months at a time before meeting in person, and I've also exchanged messages over the course of 2 days before meeting someone.

Always choose a public place, and I know it sounds horrible, but if it's a date, have an exit strategy (ie. you have dinner plans later, are meeting a friend, etc) in case it's just not going well and you want to get out lol
ugly_jacket Re: Advice please9th-Nov-2012 10:02 pm (UTC)
i usually wait a couple of weeks or do a video chat first
williammiller 9th-Nov-2012 05:35 pm (UTC)
I'm going to NYC this weekend with the bff and her mom. Idk how we're getting there. I thought we were going to take the train since it's 3.5 hours away but I think a couple of the stops are under water? That's what my friend told me. Anyway, we're going to see A Christmas Story: the Musical and go to the WTC memorial.
twowaymirrrors 9th-Nov-2012 06:14 pm (UTC)
They probably have alternate routes/transportation set up if they're running trains from where you are. Have fun bb!
muffledlaugh 9th-Nov-2012 06:39 pm (UTC)
Where are you coming from and are you taking Amtrak or a regional rail like MetroNorth? They've been opening up a lot of the trains into the city little by little each day.

The WTC memorial is really gorgeous. I haven't been down there since the hurricane and I know parts of it were flooded, so I don't know what condition it's in currently - I assume it's been pumped out by now.
chuk_is_dazzled 9th-Nov-2012 05:36 pm (UTC)

I need a hug ontd.

I had to go for my first smear test this morning and I say this as someone with a high pain threshold, broken bones without realising, damaged my spine etc; it was the most painful thing I've ever endured, I was in tears on the table. If I have to go back I'm going to ask for drugs.
snuffyqui45 9th-Nov-2012 05:41 pm (UTC)
*hugs*

those are sf awful. I love my obgyn (which is more thn other ppl can say) but I hate seeing her, every gd visit is some other painful shit to go through.
cutiepie0304 9th-Nov-2012 05:41 pm (UTC)
Aw I'm sorry, bb! Mine have def. been uncomfortable, but never hurt. Maybe you were too tense?
hearxmexrawr 9th-Nov-2012 05:42 pm (UTC)
omg really? i always hear they are very painful but mine didn't hurt at all.

hugs<3
actxappalledx 9th-Nov-2012 05:45 pm (UTC)
i hear u, i cried during my first one, and i had abnormal results and had to go back twice more and cried then, too. i haven't gone for my yearly this yr bc i dont wanna deal with the pain, lol
missmonkeydust 9th-Nov-2012 05:52 pm (UTC)
Jesus D: I had to have the procedure done five times before she could get a sample, she kept asking if I wanted to stop and I could come back and have a doctor do it but I just wanted it over. I really hope I don't have to go back for another three years now.
twowaymirrrors 9th-Nov-2012 05:46 pm (UTC)
wingslapped 9th-Nov-2012 05:51 pm (UTC)
*hugs* It was that way for me for a while. After they started using a smaller speculum it got better.
burn_a_miracle 9th-Nov-2012 06:13 pm (UTC)
The first one is the worst. I cried really hard. Every smear after the first one was okay, though. I think its because I lost my virginity in between. *Hugs*
cuteej4 9th-Nov-2012 06:19 pm (UTC)
*hugs*

My first one was NOT a pleasant experience because the doctor wasn't gentle or anything. She KNEW I wasn't sexually active and it all sucked. I went into my car afterwards and cried. Instead of driving back to my dorm, I drove home hoping my mom was home but she wasn't so I turned back around and drove back to my dorms. I just wasn't having it at all
francesbcobain 9th-Nov-2012 06:24 pm (UTC)
aww, love. i'm sorry. i have the same problem. they hurt so much and i'm forced to get them so i can have depo. they're so uncomfortable that i haven't gone back. idk if it's my doctor or my vag or what.
ugly_jacket 9th-Nov-2012 10:03 pm (UTC)
my first pap smear was that bad, but honestly some doctors just really suck at it. i have a family doc who is in and out in no time
coulson 9th-Nov-2012 05:37 pm (UTC)
