Sophie's death wasn't shocking, it was stupid and drawn out. We all knew she was dead from the jump, so everything after that was just pointless.
Also I don't know about calling Lori the greatest lost that has been suffered so far. She wasn't all that useful and didn't add anything to the group in post apocalyptic end of the world terms.
