Jared & Shannon Leto put their dog to sleep, tweet about it, I weep.

Last night, Jared Leto and his brother, Shannon, had to put their beloved Husky mix, Sky, to sleep. Both tweeted pictures of Sky, with Jared's photo slightly more emotional (both tweets under the cut).

Mods -- I know this isn't NEWS, but I think we have posts about celebrity pets all the time and I think this is something people can relate to.

:( my jack russell terrier is 11 now and I'm so scared for the day he dies. He's been my best friend since I was 10 years old (I always wanted a dog and my sister brought him from Ireland as a surprise for us lol) He's the best and happiest dog.

I have a 8 year old JRT and he's gradually having those getting-old problems. I will pretty much die when he goes, but they are the best breed.

Same :( He's had allergies for a long time where he chews himself and we have to give him steroids (usually summer time) so he's overweight but happy. He also has cataracts and trouble getting up stairs. I bought those puppy stairs for my bed haha BUT he does get his JRT energy sometimes and I'm like who is this dog!?!?

Yep, Milo has that, too. I think it might be a breed thing? He's also a little chubs, but that's because my brother keeps slipping him bacon and I FLIPPED when I found out. Milo likes to jump on the bed, but he misses it one out of every four times. Does he have those running fits? Milo still has those about once a day where he runs around the house at lightning speed for thirty minutes and then he sleeps the other 23 and a half hours of the day.

It definitely is a breed thing, I think. Haha my dog has turned into such a piggie, if you're holding food he doesn't care anymore he'll lunge at it. And yes! Especially if he's wet...he bolts through the house and of course on my bed...or I take him to the park and he runs like crazy and plays with the ball..i'm like you've still got it!

can i ask about his allergies? Does he chew himself so badly that he has patches where his fur is gone and his skin is red/irritated/inflamed? Our JRT has been having problems like this and we first told it was mites, then allergies and they gave her some meds but nothing helps :(

I have a JRT and she's a doll. We rescued her about 3 years ago and she's our first dog. I'm so attached to her. They're the best dogs.

My dog was a rescue, too. <3 I got him from the shelter on the day he was going to be put down. He had two broken back legs from being beaten and he bit me because he was so scared. Love at first bite, honestly.

My oldest dog is 12. I don't know what I'll do the day he passes. I don't handle pet death well AT ALL.

I had such a smart and loyal JRT. He got cancer around 9 or 10 and we had to put him down. It was super sad.

i had to put my jrt down at the beginning of this year. she was like 17.

for a while, we knew she could barely see and then couldn't hear, and she was stiff and couldn't always walk well, but she seemed happy for so long. she would still get excited when we got home, and was still herself and then one day she wasn't anymore and we knew we had to do it.

i got her when i was 5, and i'm 22 now. she was my fist pet. it still hurts so much.

(a year before that, my other jrt died. he was several years younger, but had undiagnosed diabetes that eventually shut down his organs. i hate that we might have been able to prevent it.)

AND NOW I'M CRYING. COOL.
