Les Mis Full-Length Trailer

The full length trailer for "Les Miserables," which stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham-Carter, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit and Samantha Barks, has finally arrived, and you can check it out. There's a lot more footage than we've seen before, with most of the principal cast getting to demonstrate their pipes, and Hooper's bold record-the-vocals on set approach seems to be paying off; there's real power and emotion behind the singing here, even from Crowe, who was the main question mark in our eyes.

"Les Miserables" opens on December 25th.

ETA: Here is an alternate link to the trailer just incase.

FINALLY, SOME SINGING FROM EDDIE.

crowe's singing seems a little shaky but that's a tall order to sing on set for every take. i'm really impressed with everyone else's pipes. i actually hate this musical but this cast makes me desperately excited for the film.

What are your favorite songs from the musical?

My #1 is "Stars".
buncha_cruncha Re: Favorite Songs?8th-Nov-2012 05:59 pm (UTC)
One Day More. I love everyone's voices coming together, all the storylines intertwining...
milkchokolate Re: Favorite Songs?8th-Nov-2012 06:00 pm (UTC)
"One Day More" and "On My Own"
fauxkaren Re: Favorite Songs?8th-Nov-2012 06:03 pm (UTC)
My best friend sang "On My Own" for our middle school talent show. LMAO. She wore a trench coat and a beret and IDEK. But I always think of that whenever I hear "On My Own", so it has kind of been ruined for me.
sukha4 Re: Favorite Songs?8th-Nov-2012 06:08 pm (UTC)
On My Own.
mellarks Re: Favorite Songs?8th-Nov-2012 06:09 pm (UTC)

windsong_moon Re: Favorite Songs?8th-Nov-2012 06:49 pm (UTC)
One Day More, On My Own, I Dreamed a Dream, and Can You Hear the People Sing. And Castle on a Cloud.

... Basically everything in the musical, tbh.

Javert's Suicide, Empty Chairs at Empty Tables, On My Own, Do You Hear the People Sing
megalixer Re: Favorite Songs?8th-Nov-2012 07:52 pm (UTC)
'Stars' is tops but the reprise of 'Do You Hear the People Sing?' in the finale has got to be pretty close.
surreptitially Re: Favorite Songs?8th-Nov-2012 08:00 pm (UTC)
IT IS SO HARD TO CHOOSE.

"Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," "On My Own," "Lovely Ladies," "Fantine's Arrest," "A Heart Full of Love," "Every Day."

Stars, Come to Me (bc of the reprise of it in the finale), and One Day More
wickedground Re: Favorite Songs?9th-Nov-2012 08:07 am (UTC)
Stars (actually everything Javert...), Empty Chairs Empty Tables, On My Own, One Day More
sherrilina Re: Favorite Songs?9th-Nov-2012 11:21 pm (UTC)
"Own My Own," "At the End of the Day," "Javert's Suicide," "Who am I?", "Confrontation", "In My Life"....idek it's hard to choose! I almost feel like my favorite songs are the in-between bits, the conversations, like Javert and Valjean's first encounter, or Fantine's arrest, or "you at the barricade listen to this...."

The only song I do not really care for is "Drink with Me.". Also not so fond of "Bring Him Home," tbh.
foreverrhapsody Re: Favorite Songs?10th-Nov-2012 03:04 am (UTC)
Oh god, why are you making me pick?

Either 'Stars', 'Do you Hear the People Sing?' the reprise at the end of the show, 'Empty Chairs at Empty Tables', 'One Day More', and 'Javert's Suicide'.
wauwy Re: Favorite Songs?10th-Nov-2012 05:26 am (UTC)
"On My Own" because I'm cliched like dat
evocates Re: Favorite Songs?10th-Nov-2012 02:15 pm (UTC)
Javert's Soliloquey/Suicide, the Confrontation (don't judge me), Can You Hear the People Sing, Master of the House.

I love the Thenardiers. Come at me.
buncha_cruncha 8th-Nov-2012 05:56 pm (UTC)
On election night, I got drunk with my fiance, and apparently (he told me this later) a commercial for this came on, and I got all excited and gave this big speech about how great it's going to be. According to him, I said something like, "You know, I like a lot of musicals, but Les Mis? Les Mis is in HERE" and pointed to my heart.

So, in short, I will be seeing this.
surreptitially 8th-Nov-2012 08:02 pm (UTC)

She is playing a:
- hooker
- with a heart of gold
- who dies dramatically
- after making huge sacrifices to save her child
- in the face of enormous social adversity
- in a period piece
- that is also a musical
- based on a classic piece of literature

I love Les Miz and I like Anne so I ain't mad, but the only way her part could be even more Oscar-baity is if the movie was set during the Holocaust. She seems like she is pretty well liked in the industry and she's coming off a big year (TDKR, wedding) so you better start resigning yourself to the eventuality of her winning tbh
koboldmaki 8th-Nov-2012 08:04 pm (UTC)
How can they not? She lost weight, she cut her hair, she sings, it's a literature adaption, she was nominated before ... it's the Oscar BINGO.
swim_thedepths 12th-Nov-2012 02:28 am (UTC)
If it's any consolation, once she wins her Oscar, she'll fade into obscurity for you.
fauxkaren 8th-Nov-2012 06:00 pm (UTC)
When I lived in London, I saw Les Mis 4 times in the span of a year and I definitely cried at least once.

The part that always gets me is when the bishops gives the candlesticks to Valjean.

I AM SUCH A SAPPPPP
surreptitially 8th-Nov-2012 08:03 pm (UTC)
"Would you leave the best behind?"
evocates 10th-Nov-2012 02:20 pm (UTC)
God the Bishop of Digne is my favourite character in the musical after Javert. Seriously, I love him so, so much. Especially since his voice is always so gorgeous.
clianthe 11th-Nov-2012 07:37 am (UTC)
That is the part where I start crying every time. And then I don't stop 'til intermission.
wonderwomanhero 8th-Nov-2012 06:01 pm (UTC)
Her hair...her poor hair.

(This is weird but I'm always....ugh I don't like traumatic haircuts)

r u srs rn??
fauxkaren 8th-Nov-2012 06:07 pm (UTC)
No. lol. I mean I liked it because I liked getting peeks at all these new scenes.

But the way it was edited together was pretty awful.
psubookworm27 8th-Nov-2012 06:09 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I mean.....I'm gonna see this movie, but if I knew nothing about it, this wouldn't have made me want to go see it. It just...idk doesn't do it for me. The teaser though...damn that one made me all kinds of excited.
sukha4 8th-Nov-2012 06:10 pm (UTC)
I thought the editing was not good.
leitao 8th-Nov-2012 08:47 pm (UTC)
IKR? The first one was great . . . this new trailer feels like it was poorly slapped together.
mingemonster 8th-Nov-2012 08:51 pm (UTC)
If I hadn't already resigned myself to stanning, I'd probably reconsider seeing it

Russel Crowe could never!

So bitter about this, tbh.

Do You Hear the People Sing and One Day More are two of the most powerful ensemble numbers in the entire musical. ah I love them so much.
