Watch Feist's Sweeping, Desolate "Graveyard" Video
By Evan Minsker on November 1, 2012 at 09:00 a.m.

Just in time for the Day of the Dead, Feist has shared the music video for the Metals track "Graveyard". The clip, directed by Keith Megna, was filmed in Big Sur and features long, faraway shots of Feist and her band performing the song in a desolate landscape.

Here's what Feist said about the video:

"I'm not talking about the Graveyard as a location, but of the entangled thoughts you get when visiting a graveyard. Usually you're there to visit someone who's died, and you think in broad terms about what they've become and your own mortality and about what time means. We're alone in the field, always at a distance. And people appear and disappear from your life.

"Grief comes in the form of much larger thoughts; it's more philosophical and it leads to a confused state of mind. You don't get those thoughts from checking your emails! It's a pullback from details and its grand and isolating."

Watch Joey Bada$$ Rap in the VHS-Quality "Fromdatomb$" Video
By Evan Minsker on October 31, 2012 at 08:54 p.m.

Joey Bada$$ has shared a clip for the 1999 track "Fromdatomb$", which features a verse from his Pro Era cohort Chuck Strangers. The clip, directed by David M. Helman, shows the crew in a haze of VHS-quality footage, though Joey is usually in HD.

Here's the description from the video, written by Joey:

Fromdatomb$ is the last video I wanted to drop off "1999" because I felt like this closed out the tape perfectly. I'm locked in the studio with my pro$ putting in that twerk on this new PRO ERA tape set two drop December 21st. stay tuned.

A$AP Rocky will join Rihanna on her "Diamonds" world tour, which happens in big arenas and stadiums across America beginning in March. She must not be too mad at him for grabbing her butt during their joint performance at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

In some ways, this sets a clock ticking on A$AP Rocky's debut album LONGLIVEA$AP, which has been pushed back a few times already. It seems unlikely he could set out on a big tour without readying the release first.

Grizzly Bear/Department of Eagles member Daniel Rossen has shared an untitled acoustic demo from December 2009.
The track, posted to Rossen's Soundcloud this weekend, is "too old to work on anymore and won't see the light of day in any other format," he wrote.

Rossen released his Silent Hour/Golden Mile EP earlier this year. Watch him perform a cut from it in a church for "Pitchfork Weekly":

What is everyone listening to? I'm feeling the new Crystal Castles album (III), Lana Del Rey's Paradise Edition and Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city? What's your favorite song from those albums?

I am totally underwhelmed by III.

WoG, Violent Youth, Plague and Insulin are the only ones I really like, and I guess Plague too. The rest all sounds the same, and the songs aren't as ferocious as they used to be.

Sad Eyes was described at the Baptism of III, yet it's missing so much. I miss Alice's more "screaming" vocals. This whispering/soft singing is a bit boring.

I am kinda disappointed, ngl, I was looking forward to this album so much.

is it celestica-ish? bc that, another song and maybe baptism are the only CC thing i can handle.
eyduh 8th-Nov-2012 05:36 pm (UTC)
Uhm, kinda. Although Celestica is far better than 80% of III. I just miss diversity on this album, esp. when it comes to Alice's vocals.

Brody's new album is done if that makes you feel better.
