Spartacus: War of the Damned premiere date revealed, new video released



Spartacus: War of the Damned will premiere Friday, Jan. 25 at 9/8c, Starz announced Tuesday.

This will mark the final installment of the network's Spartacus franchise, following Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Spartacus: Vengeance and the mini-series Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.

Liam McIntyre will return as Spartacus for a second season after replacing original star Andy Whitfield, who passed away from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2011.

Season 3 will also see the addition of Todd Lasanec as Gaius Julias Caesar, Simon Merrells as Marcus Crassus and Anna Hutchison as Laeta.

I'm glad they're not going to draw it out and try to make as many seasons as possible, though I was hoping for a little bit more than just 3 seasons (4 with the prequel).

the thing about Spartacus was that he got too greedy, he got his vengeance he should have moved on with is life tbh, but then again he wouldn't have became so historic.

I wouldn't call his desire to end enslavement for everyone greedy. I think once he got a taste of accomplishment after he won his first revolt that he got in over his head and maybe a little cocky thinking he could actually win a full fledged war with the whole of the Roman Republic involved and just bit off too much than he could chew. Not to say he wasn't a damn good fighter/leader and didn't come close to having a chance of winning, because he did. Unfortunately they just got outnumbered and overpowered and made one too many mistakes than they could afford, if of course every fact of history is 100% accurate.

the best part about this show is seeing actors/actresses who were on Xena/Hercules appear in the show. it takes me from normal viewer to super fangirl is less that 3 seconds.

Season 2 was so slow and dragging on each episode that I thought it would take at least 2 or 3 more seasons to finish the storyline.. But now since it's the final season they're gonna cram everything on Season 3. I'm gonna miss this show a lot when it ends :(
