Um, no. Christina's character was an athletic tomboy - in the movie's context, it didn't fit at all.
the_painful_red 8th-Nov-2012 12:41 am (UTC)
Right? I was totally shocked that she "became" overweight since she liked sports and was a doctor.

So you know no fat doctors? And every fat person you know is a couch potato? I'm fat and I hike every day and swim three times a week.
the_painful_red 8th-Nov-2012 03:03 am (UTC)
Of course not, but it was shocking to my shallow kid mind. Being around fat-ists and whatnot shapes your mentality.

lol, my Dr actually can't get out of his office chair. His fat becomes wedged in the handles so he just wheels himself around the room when he needs to get anything.
imyoona 8th-Nov-2012 03:17 am (UTC)
lol what does being a doctor have to do with anything?
duchello 8th-Nov-2012 05:48 am (UTC)
I was an athlete in high school now I'm overweight sigh...
xbellaxmiax 8th-Nov-2012 12:42 am (UTC)
not just that- roberta was the fiesty, beat your ass type girl when she was younger and then her older version was just suddenly like the funny and chill one- they were always the worst fit to me
mahasin 8th-Nov-2012 12:44 am (UTC)
I disagree, she's an athletic tomboy who feels self conscious about her developing body which tends to make some girls hide their boobs with weight.

I'm such an ass, but it's more to do with her not growing up to be pretty when it's obvious she would to me.
fuckyess 8th-Nov-2012 04:27 am (UTC)
totally agree
rctshack 8th-Nov-2012 02:08 am (UTC)
if I could tell you how many of the "athletic" people in my high school are now overweight. It's only been 10 years and some of them are extreme.

Facebook is amazing for making me feel better about not being perfect like them in high school.

OMG YES, not only facebook but google search is everything cause it brings up pictures of mugshots. I found out this one boy I went to school with who was always holier than thou had been arrested for unpaid child support and resisting arrest.

I think what happens with a lot of people who are active as kids/teens (in dance or sport), and who then stop as adults, is that they're used to being able to eat pretty generously, because they're just going to burn it off. But as soon as they stop the activity, and they're eating just like they used to, the weight starts piling on. I've seen that happen to so many people I know.
