Victoria Jackson On Obama's Win: 'I Can't Stop Crying, America Died'

Victoria Jackson hasn't exactly been a beacon of rational political analysis, but her post-election meltdown on Twitter may take the cake. After Barack Obama was declared the winner, the former "SNL" castmember proclaimed that America had "died."

For context, Jackson is the actress who proclaimed that she would have a baby if impregnated through rape, uncovered a "secret, underground group" of Hollywood Republicans and said gay marriage would "make God mad."

But we digress. Here's Jackson (via an unverified Twitter account) on the outcome of the 2012 presidential election:

Speaking of quoting the Bible ...I don't understand whatever happened to spirituality and personal relationship with one's spiritual side. Why do we all have to spit verses and hate each other in order to prove we believe in a higher power. Whatever happened to spiritual journey. The definition of spiritual journey has turned into walking down to the nearest supermarket and holding up a picket sign that says gays will burn in hell. How does that feel good? Sorry for the paragraph, but I've thought about these things for a long time and it makes me sad because you can believe in things and be spiritual without having to get angry at things that don't please you.

I completely agree. I think the basic principles written in the New Testament are pretty much the same you find in most religions: Love each other, be good to your neighbor, don't judge. Some people go completely overboard and imo there's nothing more damaging to religion than people using it to spew hate and ugliness :/

This. This. This. I use this argument in the "same sex marriage" argument ALL THE TIME, which is: The God I know, the God I follow, the God you're quoting to me hysterically- Well, last time I checked he did not want us to make people find him through berating and belittling them, but through using the strength we find from the love we have for the Lord to also love them, and our love for them can bring them to their own love of God and his ways. So if you're going to sit here and tell me that God appreciates you judging, hating, and out-casting a group of people based on his principles, then you are following a sick twisted God, because mine wants to judge us himself and wants us to do nothing other than spread his love."

I'm not religious, but I grew up Catholic, and my Godmom yelled that at someone one time during the Prop 8 fanatics (in California, 2008) and it always stuck with me, because the crazy Jesus fanatic she yelled it at was totally and completely speechless.

I COMPLETELY AGREE!!!!!

Yuuupppp. It really is the best argument against people with ~religious beliefs. I almost got punched by a girl when I was in college because her 'persuasive speech' was to persuade everyone to believe marriage is between a man and a woman, because the bible says so-

A couple people used the whole "the bible also says blah blah etc" and she was really quick with her rebuttals (new vs old testament BS) so I gave her basically the same rant I did above and she starts backpedaling: "I'm not judging, I'm not judging, they can be gay if they want but they shouldn't get married."

Then this:

Me: "Are you gay?"
Her: "No, of course not."
Me: "Are you God?"
Her: "......no."
Me: "Then SHUT UP."

And then she shot fire out her eyes at me and I tensed up waiting for the punch, let me tell you...

I want to make out and marry this comment. I totally agree. I found it so interesting and amazing seeing that George Harrison documentary on HBO and how he went on his own spiritual journey and did his own thing and didn't shove it down other people's throats. It was about HIS journey with HIS spirituality with HIS deity. Why do other people need to be involved.

What you described above seems like a fucking chore and only instills negative growth, not positive.

I love this comment. I've never understood why so many religious people feel it is necessary to go to other parks of the world and make sure they believe in THEIR god, and nothing else is acceptable.

Even today, missionaries do trips to Africa and shit and preach the word of the lord to the people there. It makes me sick. Those people should be ashamed of themselves.
