I had this EXACT argument with my dad about seven years ago... slamming doors, screaming, both of us swearing we'd never talk to each other again. And yesterday we stayed up all night watching election results and talking about how proud we were of the first openly gay senator. He's even supporting same sex marriage now which is SUCH A BIG CHANGE.
I guess what I'm saying is, hold in there. If your mom is not totally stubborn or closed off, she'll come around at least a little bit. Maybe not as much as my dad or as much as you might like, but every little bit counts. TRY to be calm and rational when you talk to her (this is a feat for me with my dad because oh boy can he get under my skin). Even if she's still a homophobe at the end, you'll still be the better person for it.
