Election Day: Stars Get Out the Vote on Twitter

It’s Election Day — and celebrities want all Americans to celebrate.

As President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney tirelessly rallied support on the campaign trail in recent months, many high-profile Hollywood names — from George Clooney to Eva Longoria to Clint Eastwood — stumped for their candidate from coast-to-coast.

And now that decision day is here, they and many others in Tinseltown are taking to Twitter to get out the vote. From pushing Americans to make their voices matter to sharing sites for polling information, politically minded stars are encouraging voters to take part in the democratic process.

They’re not just talking the talk — stars are voting, too, and sharing their experiences and polling-booth snaps on Twitter.

The first comment is so fucked up!because that's what happened to Canada and Dick Harper is running this country to the ground.
galagooo 6th-Nov-2012 10:15 pm (UTC)
Lol, did that person imply that it would be good if only landowners could vote? And what, apartment dwellers and homeless people should be SOL?
raised_eyebrows 6th-Nov-2012 10:16 pm (UTC)
There's no objective way to determine someone's intelligence. We've tried it, and it didn't work. Just because someone is gullible doesn't mean that they're stupid.

Guy in green is just being ridiculous. He's basically saying only the wealthy should be allowed to vote, which implies that only the poor are stupid. We have ample evidence that that is not the case. See: Donald Trump.

You are american citizen, you work and pay your taxes. just by that you are ENTITLED to decide the future of your own country.

I was so nervous going to vote, idk why. Not even my first time. After I was done the old guy that gave me my sticker was so nice. He thanked me for coming and told me to have a nice day in like 3 different ways lol :,)

galagooo 6th-Nov-2012 10:16 pm (UTC)
What made him change his mind?
hearxmexrawr 6th-Nov-2012 10:37 pm (UTC)
health care and women's rights!
magnolianight 6th-Nov-2012 11:37 pm (UTC)
The republican party is not what it used to be. Romney might not be saying he is, but he is tea party. They're too extreme. Obama's much more in the middle.

I used to be republican too, once upon a time.
norway 7th-Nov-2012 12:54 am (UTC)
I thought my dad was, too, since he hates Mittens and wants Obamacare, but then he told me he voted to cancel my vote. :(

i'm really really terrified but lbr here, the media does try to make the race seem a lot closer than it is just so they can drum up ratings tonight (looking at you, CNN). Voter fraud is an issue in every election and I don't see how it's going to be any worse or better in this one. And, the story about Romney's son owning voting machines in Ohio is grossly overexaggerated.
pickledprose 6th-Nov-2012 10:08 pm (UTC)
o rly

ppl r showing up to vote and being told they've already voted

it's not just the machines
galagooo 6th-Nov-2012 10:17 pm (UTC)
Family members should not be allowed to be involved in anything to do with Election Day supplies or procedures. It's a really obvious conflict of interest. Even if he owns only one voting machine, it's one too many.

I feel like nothing can be more disappointing than the 2004 election.

I kind of feel bad for the interns who have to collect all these inane twitter messages for "lets see what celebrities think about wood" type of articles.

Nevermind, I don't feel bad.

JP Arencibia voted for Romney? Disappointed tbh.
sparkysparky 6th-Nov-2012 10:08 pm (UTC)
Yes! Just voted, in and out in 10 minutes, seamless voting process. Maine still has the fill-in-the-dot ballot so there was no touch screen shenanigans.

Now comes the hard part: THE WAITING!
allysouu 6th-Nov-2012 10:48 pm (UTC)
I'm in Boston buy my home towns ME and I made sure I was registered there so that I could vote for marriage equality vote.

I remember the last time it was on the ballot to be repealed there was a website to check which town voted Yes and No, do yo know what it is? I don't want to be shocked by the outcome in the morning.
sparkysparky 6th-Nov-2012 10:50 pm (UTC)
I don't remember the website, but I have a STRONG feeling it'll pass this time. It could be EqualityMaine's website.
