Election Day: Stars Get Out the Vote on Twitter

It’s Election Day — and celebrities want all Americans to celebrate.

As President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney tirelessly rallied support on the campaign trail in recent months, many high-profile Hollywood names — from George Clooney to Eva Longoria to Clint Eastwood — stumped for their candidate from coast-to-coast.

And now that decision day is here, they and many others in Tinseltown are taking to Twitter to get out the vote. From pushing Americans to make their voices matter to sharing sites for polling information, politically minded stars are encouraging voters to take part in the democratic process.

They’re not just talking the talk — stars are voting, too, and sharing their experiences and polling-booth snaps on Twitter.

I know it's myopic to tell people to vote then get upset that they're voting for Romney... but holy hell I can't believe I met so many students voting for Romney. I regret showing these girls where the polling place was. I mean voting Republican for your views is one thing but ROMNEY? oy.

theantipoet 6th-Nov-2012 11:34 pm (UTC)
anyone else feel like this election cycle has been epically negative?

I could talk for hours about why Romney voters hate Obama and why Obama voters hate Romney, but I haven't heard much about their plans for the next four years and why they should be re/elected beyond talking about how much the other guy sucks.

/cynical and burnt out
smokesinatra 6th-Nov-2012 11:37 pm (UTC)
I feel like that every time tbh. it's always less about the issues and more about ~that dude smells funny and is a poop face~
dirkismyhomeboy 6th-Nov-2012 11:38 pm (UTC)
I know exactly what Obama plans to do because I watched the State of the Union Address and he has a commerical here where he tells exactly what he plans to do.

I also know what Romney plans to do and I don't like it, so he and all the rest of the Republicans can fuck off.
sprywonderdog 6th-Nov-2012 11:39 pm (UTC)
I don't know. Palin, and the people at her and McCain's rallies, were extremely horrible.

As for their plans, Obama's been fairly clear about his while Romney tells the outcome to his plans, but not the plans themselves.
brokenseas 6th-Nov-2012 11:39 pm (UTC)
No, I can pretty much talk about their policies. I can also talk about why they both suck (despite being an ardent Obama supporter)
poisoned_summer 6th-Nov-2012 11:35 pm (UTC)
steve schmidt is a pretty cool guy after watching game change tbh

snapiphany 6th-Nov-2012 11:40 pm (UTC)
Mitt Romney has won and declared that all women must report to the cooch camps to have their vaginas tagged and regulated by January 1, 2013.

jk, I'm trying to stay away from the news myself. How was your interview, though?
caravels 6th-Nov-2012 11:42 pm (UTC)
lmao ugh >__> it was great tho, i'm really glad to have had that as a distraction for today!
stellarlyssa 6th-Nov-2012 11:36 pm (UTC)
Just got home from work, uggghhhhh nervous. I got up at 630 to get to my polling place by 7:10 this morning, so I am also super tired/wired.
ohifonly_x 6th-Nov-2012 11:36 pm (UTC)
Is anyone curious about the new South Park ep tonight? I didn't really like the heist ep they did in 2008, but loved Randy singing "Celeee-bratee good-Obama, come on!" haha
sweeetkiwi 6th-Nov-2012 11:36 pm (UTC)
lol
hypnology 6th-Nov-2012 11:38 pm (UTC)
Since it's called obama wins, I wonder what will happen in the unforunate event that romney wins.
mistress_f 6th-Nov-2012 11:39 pm (UTC)
they had 2 different endings ready in 2008, i'm sure they do again this year.

maybe cartman will be the only one to celebrate if mittens wins
or maybe that would be too scary even for him

we'll see
mistress_f 6th-Nov-2012 11:38 pm (UTC)
Randy's hard partying for obama was an epic moment of sp history. hopefully he gets to celebrate again tomorrow
love_keiko 6th-Nov-2012 11:36 pm (UTC)
i'm not watchin' the news rn. trying to stay calm and tuning in to MSNBC 15 min before first round results r supposed to be announced.
alwaysu2 6th-Nov-2012 11:36 pm (UTC)
I voted at 6:19 am and I was # 60 something at my polling place. I have avoided election coverage all day. I am more nervous than I was 4 years ago when I was making my way to Grant Park for the election night rally.

Are we still feeling good about Barry winning??
