5 fucking hours. Counting on Virginia, because I know some shit will go down here in Ohio.
crispy1088 6th-Nov-2012 07:28 pm (UTC)
can you calm down? you are making me want to shit bricks. :(
goldengal1193 6th-Nov-2012 07:31 pm (UTC)
I'm just saying.

I am actually calm, because I think Obama will win Virginia. And that's all he needs.

I'm kinda upset about registering last minute. It worked out fine for me but I had my brother register my mom, the same day I registered, and she never got the ballot in the mail. I've checked her status and it shows nothing in the system even though my brother got a confirmation D: At one point she mentioned voting for Romney though, so I don't feel THAT bad about it. lol
buncha_cruncha 6th-Nov-2012 07:07 pm (UTC)
I got my white wine chilling in the fridge for tonight...I know I'm gonna need it.
trixielollipop 6th-Nov-2012 07:09 pm (UTC)
It will pair well with the white whine this evening.
oldfrenchminuet 6th-Nov-2012 07:11 pm (UTC)
Damnit. I was thinking of getting a bottle of white wine for tonight until this comment. lol

my parents had to put their dog down on Saturday. we're all really upset about it, but my mom is a mess. idk if it's because she has anxiety/depression problems on top of it but man...it's so tough talking to her right now. anytime i bring anything up she reverts back to the dog and starts crying and idk what else to say that i haven't said already. he'd been sick for so long and it was really his time to go(he had glaucoma, diabetes, seizures, cushings disease, and he was blind. he legit had to take meds every 4 hours) and everyone keeps trying to reassure her but she doesn't want to listen.

she told me today that she got some different anxiety meds from the doctor and that they make her sleep and that she wants to just keep taking them so she can "sleep all the time and not have to deal with anything"

idk what else to really say to her.
xeroxicide__ 6th-Nov-2012 07:42 pm (UTC)
Does she live alone or feel lonely? I knew a parent who would call my friend at college several times in a day to talk about the dead cat and he was so terrible to her. At least you're there for her it should help a little even it you have nag and drag her out of bed to eat lunch and stuff.
nicenicegirl 6th-Nov-2012 07:58 pm (UTC)
no she lives with my father. it was actually him i was worried about when i first found out that they put the dog down. but he's been coping alright with it. she's just taking it hard. and i don't want to sound insensitive but she usually gets upset over the smallest things so this is like, a huge deal to her.

i can't even bring up another subject tho. she'll ignore what i've said and start talking about the dog again.

i mean, i know losing pets is tough, i've had to deal with it myself a few times now. but idk she's just on a whole other level now.
ilouboutin 6th-Nov-2012 07:08 pm (UTC)
does any site have an inkling as far as the numbers as of right now? i haven't heard anything. perhaps this is a good thing.
oldfrenchminuet 6th-Nov-2012 07:13 pm (UTC)
Perhaps this will help!
ilouboutin 6th-Nov-2012 07:17 pm (UTC)

Getting ready for a night of ~election vigil as apparently the first voting places close their doors at 2am my local time?
I have candy, coffee, dried ginger (and even my obama shirt from 2008 lol) and four blankets, so don't disappoint me Ammurricahh

But I've heard about some problems with the voting machines, like wth don't you use regular paper ballots, what's wrong with that? Machines seems just shady. And apparently the candidates aren't even listed in an alphabetical order, why's that?
nicenicegirl 6th-Nov-2012 07:12 pm (UTC)
certain places only have the voting machines, they don't offer paper ballots.
loveumbrella 6th-Nov-2012 07:15 pm (UTC)
Oh so it's not everywhere then, good. But nevertheless it's strange imo :/
buncha_cruncha 6th-Nov-2012 07:14 pm (UTC)
The candidates (on my ballot at least) were listed by party line, not alphabetically. So all Democrats were on top, then all Republicans, then the other parties.

Someone on my dash posted a link for a Canadian citizenship practice test, "just in case" lol so I took it and got 80%! I had no idea I knew so much about Canada. Glad I'm prepped now.

Also I've been enthralled with this site for the last half hour: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2012/11/02/us/politics/paths-to-the-white-house.html

no_x_doubts 6th-Nov-2012 07:16 pm (UTC)
my dad is obsessed with romney and sat me down last night to try to convince me to vote for him! But now he has to work all day and can't vote so -1 for mittens
cutiepie0304 6th-Nov-2012 07:16 pm (UTC)

mhfromnh 6th-Nov-2012 07:18 pm (UTC)

no_x_doubts 6th-Nov-2012 08:06 pm (UTC)
i couldn't get a word in lol it was like being in one of the debates except only he was allowed to talk and then got all ~Ok conversation over i'm going to bed.

but he knows i'm voting obama.
orangeandblack 6th-Nov-2012 07:26 pm (UTC)
At least he tried tho. Still laughing.
anus 6th-Nov-2012 07:16 pm (UTC)
I really wish my mom would stop claiming everything is the president's fault. No, your friend did not lose her home because of Obama. Maybe if she didn't continue to give money to her husband's failing business, then they wouldn't have gone into such extreme debt that they couldn't pay for their house.
mhfromnh 6th-Nov-2012 07:19 pm (UTC)
exactly.
orangeandblack 6th-Nov-2012 07:29 pm (UTC)
This mentality is so depressing. People who have to find SOMEONE to irrationally blame for their terrible financial reasons.

Unless Obama came in and shut down her husbands business just for funnsies, I'd totally feel her out on that one. Instead I assume his business failed because he's not a very good business man, I'm waist deep in stories about business failures because of the inability to run one properly. I know sometimes it really is just a sad moment when a business can't sustain itself but it's rarely ever because of the government. They garner more money from you if you're operating and making money, why would they ever try to put you out of business?
cutiepie0304 6th-Nov-2012 07:30 pm (UTC)
I fucking hate this shit. People need to learn to take responsibility for their own actions and choices and STOP whining about every.little.thing. America is fucked.
emerging 6th-Nov-2012 07:19 pm (UTC)
is it time to start drinking yet>?
anus 6th-Nov-2012 07:20 pm (UTC)
And now I have to go to work till close. Boooo ):
buncha_cruncha 6th-Nov-2012 07:22 pm (UTC)
Story time:

When I voted this morning, I went to sit behind my partition to fill out my ballot, and someone had left a pro-Republican campaign postcard sitting there. Of course, that stuff is not allowed, so I voted and then brought the postcard to the people at the table. The girl saw it in my hand and started SCREAMING at me. I started to tell her I had found it there, but she was like, "YOU CAN'T HAVE THAT IN HERE! WHY DID YOU BRING THAT??" and it took like a full minute to tell her I had just found it and was bringing it to her to get rid of it. I thought she was going to have me arrested.

But seriously, it made me mad that someone left that postcard there. Fucker.
chihaya19 6th-Nov-2012 07:31 pm (UTC)
well shittt sounds like someone needs to calm the fuck down
buncha_cruncha 6th-Nov-2012 07:37 pm (UTC)
I really think she was getting off on the "power" of being an election day volunteer at the YMCA
orangeandblack 6th-Nov-2012 07:32 pm (UTC)
Tacky. I saw pro-Republican crap like that hanging out in the general area of our post office, I collected them and dumped them into the recycle bin. Not here for that.

I love how she freaked out at you...like she couldn't open her ears and hear you out first before assuming you were trying to do something wrong. Ick, I hope she's just running high on emotions given the day and job.
tine_marie 6th-Nov-2012 07:29 pm (UTC)
