Dakota Fanning covers InStyle UK December 2012: says we shouldn’t judge Kristen Stewart
She's got an acting back catalogue to rival A-listers far beyond her years and fashion clout to match, so Dakota Fanning had plenty to share with InStyle when we sat down with her after she shot her playful December cover shoot.
About to return to our screens in Twilight finale film, Breaking Dawn - Part 2, Dakota is clearly excited: “There’s a sequence in it that will really trip people out. It’s so crazy! They’ll be shocked. But they’ll recover. You’ll see.”

Inside the issue, 18-year-old Fanning ameliorates her parents’ decision to co-sign the filming of a rape scene at 14-years-old.
And Fanning does the same while defending friend Kristen Stewart, with whom she worked on The Runaways and on Twilight, by saying fans and the media have no right to judge Stewart for fooling around with a married director because the act of narrating a public action, publicly acknowledged with a statement to the tabloids, is somehow reprehensible. In this instance, Fanning minimises almost (being part of) breaking up a family-of-four as an “experience.”
On why one person’s cheating around is another person’s ‘LOL, my bad’: “Everyone thinks they have the right to, you know, publicise the struggles and sadness and heartbreak and all of that,’ she said in defense of [friend] Kristen Stewart with whom she worked on Joan Jett biopic The Runaways AND on Twilight. ‘It’s like, ‘Why do you think you are the authority to judge people’s experiences?’”
On the secret to her success: “Why have I been able to stay sane in a sometimes insane world? The pure love of what I do. Making movies.’
On how her parents letting 14-year-old Fanning shoot a rape scene in the film Hounddog in 2006: “I’ve always been drawn to material that’s more kind of heavy, you know? Whether it be dark or dramatic or sometimes disturbing. And that can be hard to do when people think you’re still a kid.”
On only ever having one boyfriend although she’s currently single: ”You know, I’m not the kind of girl or person who really wants boyfriends in my life,’ she told InStyle. ’I’m also the kind of person… I’m very black and white in what I feel and I don’t wanna be with someone that I don’t foresee spending a long time with.” - via InStyle UK Magazine.
