Jessica Brown-Findlay Front-Runner For Female Lead In CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER?



According to recent reports, one of the actresses included in the previous shortlist for Captain America: The Winter Soldier's female lead has now surfaced as the “front-runner.” 


Even with various shooting locations locked in for early next year, Marvel's forthcoming sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, is still in the casting stages; at least in the media's eye. And long before The Grey actor Frank Grillo surfaced as a new potential cast addition, a shortlist made rounds for the sequel's female lead, in which five actresses - Emilia Clarke, Jessica Brown Findlay, Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots, and Alison Brie - were in contention for. However, according to the Daily Express, Brown-Findlay is the “front-runner” for the role believed to be Sharon Carter. 
Weeks after the aforementioned shortlist hit, reliable sources had reported that Marvel and duo-directors Joe and Anthony Russo were strongly considering Mary Elizabeth Winstead. But the Scott Pilgrim actress has since debunked the so-called rumor on her Twitter account, as expected. Nonetheless, if the Daily Express isn't reporting the shortlist a little late to the game, and playing favorites, then it seems Jessica Brown-Findlay will nab the role. What do you think?

idk, idgi. she's okay, but i wouldn't even notice her in real life. i don't watch downton but i saw some crappy movie she did with felicity jones and she was pretty average next to felicity.

They should make Sharon blonde and American like in the comics. It's already a difficult relationship to sell, playing up her resemblance to Peggy won't help.

she was in one low budget british film, she mostly known for Downton Abbey, and an episode of Black Mirror and Misfits

Sybil lives. I love her. I hope she gets it.

What would be great is for Thor or any superhero to get a love interest of color. I don't care if its not comic book canon but it'd be nice to see.

leaving Downton pays off for her her acting in her very last scene was probably the best she'd done for the whole show.

I wonder if they'd ever consider hiring Michelle Dockery whos is superior in acting ability and looks (imo) for Sharon Carter instead? I'd hate for her to fade into obscurity.

Since I don't read comics, and I'm not sure of the plot for this, can someone explain? Are we going back to the WW2 times for this? Isn't Cap America in the ice at this point? Or am I picking it up wrong?

It's set after Avengers, Steve in the present.

The plot is he served in WWII and then crashed a plane into ice, and when they found him in 2011/2012 he was still alive because of his super soldier serum, so he's in present time now...

it will be probably flashbacks

bucky found by a russian submarine without an arm and they kinda fix him there and he becomes a soviet assasin. but they keep him in cryogenic stasis when not on missions so he is not getting older.

I assume we will see how they found him, put a bionic arm on him and see a couple of his assasins and then come back to today.

I don't think Lady Sybil is a very good actress, tbh. Of course, I haven't seen anything she's done beyond season 1 of Downton. Maybe she's improved?

Majority of them on that show are stilted in some way though, I loved Sybil though so... But I do hope she's getting more acting lessons or something too lol

I don't think so either, but that's also not a requirement for comic book love interests... ;) She just needs to be pretty and have good chemistry with Evans.

FALSE. The Marvel Ladies have been off the chain and way better than the trend of "girlfriend without a character", I don't want that trend to stop. For the most part it'll require writing her a part (which they have been doing a good job of, though Sharon is tricky to say the least), but still.

She's not that great and this kind of role for her leaves me super nervous, because Sharon needs to be kind of fierce for it to work (and def someone not at all like Hayley's character).

Lady Sybil was always the weakest link for me out of the cast, sorry Sybil fans. Her acting is kind of atroc, however she does have her moments in the third season.

She was one of the weakest actors on the show until the most recent episode she was in. She killed it, tbh, so hopefully it means she's getting better. I hope she gets a ton more work and keeps improving.
