Brandon T. Jackson In Final Talks To Play Eddie Murphy’s Son In ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV Series

Axel Foley, meet Alpa Chino. A little over a month ago we heard that CBS was looking to develop a new TV series based on the classic ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ franchise, not a re-boot or an adaptation mind you, but an all-new series focusing on the legendary police officer’s son! And while the jury’s still out on whether or not Eddie Murphy would reprise his iconic character for the TV series, we’ve just learned that ‘Tropic Thunder’ star Brandon T. Jackson may be our new, younger ‘Beverly Hills Cop,’ Aaron Foley!

In today’s modern landscape of TV and movie re-boots, one prospect that certainly stands out is CBS and Eddie Murphy’s development of a potential ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV series, one which would focus on the offspring of Murphy’s character Axel Foley, Aaron. According to Humor Mill Magazine, the role has been all-but-cast with comedian, rapper, and actor Brandon T. Jackson! The ‘Big Momma’s House 3′ star has yet to be confirmed for the role, but remains in final negotiations as the favored choice.

Produced by Eddie Murphy and ‘The Shield’ producer Shawn Ryan, the forthcoming ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ series has a pilot production commitment and follows Axel Foley’s son Aaron Foley working to “take down the criminal elements of the rich and famous, while simultaneously trying to escape the shadow of his larger than life father.” It’s presumed that Murphy himself will have at least some role on the show, reprising the role of Axel.

What say you? Do you think Brandon T. Jackson fits as our new ‘Beverly Hills Cop?’ Will you check out the new series, or shove a banana in its tailpipe?

you might remember him as the actual black guy in tropic thunder and from that knock off Harry Potter film.

Probably like all the other procedurals except it'd be a comedy/action?

Complete and utter pass. Like John McClane is not fucking Jason Bourne and should not be firing high powered rifles in mother fuckin' Moscow, Beverly Hills Cop is Eddie Murphy.

I think that guy is pretty funny. I loved him on Tropic Thunder and I half-watched that Percy Jackson movie and he made me lol many times tbh.

I have no strong feelings about this series, but I loved him in Tropic Thunder & I've been hoping he'd get better roles. "That's the theme song from The Jeffersons!"

Good for him ... I guess. I don't know why, but I don't care for him.

Could it possibly be because they're marketing him as the "next" Chris Trucker or Eddie Murphy?

I honestly get the feeling he could do a lot better than most of the movies he chooses to star in. That's just me though.

I don't know, he seems like a decent actor but he also has an asshole undertone about him too.

Isn't CBS the network that shows "Hawaii Five-O"? I never would have thought that old idea would have become a hit show today (in the era of bad guys caught by scientific evidence rather than through old school chases, etc.), so who knows?

Beverly Hills Cop had a good action/comedy formula. This young guy (hell yeah I saw him in Big Momma's House) is a decent actor, cute, etc. Plus, the major networks don't currently (or ever?) offer many programs starring black people. The show would help make primetime TV look more diverse, while appealing to a lot of people (including younger viewers). So, as long as the show has decent writers, I can see it being a hit.

As for Eddie Murphy, that dude has mad crazy money and still has some movie star power, and I seriously doubt he'd sign on to do a regular television shooting schedule that reprises his break-out film role from 25-30 years ago.

Michael B. Jordan for all the roles, though.

I read that he auditioned for that new Jackie Robinson movie, I think to play Jackie, but they went for that other guy.

Congrats to him I guess. I may check out at least 2 episodes.

I think Eddie should just star in it himself. The son could be a supporting character.
