Country superstar Taylor Swift has no interest in getting political, despite the fact that she's dating a member of the most famous family in American politics. In a new interview with Time, the country pop superstar was asked if she'd been following the presidential election race.
"I follow it, and I try to keep myself as educated and informed as possible," Taylor acknowledged. "But I don't talk about politics because it might influence other people. And I don't think that I know enough in life to be telling people to vote for."
Swift isn't the first star to play mum when it comes to politics: Kid Rock lambasted celebrities who voiced their political opinions back in 2008, telling CMT Insider, "I truly believe that people like myself, who are in a position of entertainers in the limelight, should keep their mouth shut on politics." He's since changed his tune, and is now one of the entertainment industry's most vocal Republicans.
Taylor's decision to keep quiet is rather shrewd: Country music fans tend to have conservative leanings (remember the Dixie Chicks?), so a political endorsement could be very bad for business.

how does not talking about it = voting for Romney
(Really though, normally when people say "Oh I don't like to talk about politics" it's usually because they have some flop ass opinions and don't wanna have to use their brains and think about logic and facts that would change their world view)
and she most definitely did not perform at a GOP convention, ever.

I find it refreshing that someone is not trying to push their politics in my face. I'm voting for Obama, but I don't really talk to much about politics with people, even if they say they are voting the same because it can get messy.
In fact I was going to come in here and say "Finally an ounce of sense from an unlikely source."
But then I saw the first few comments. Welp, what are you gonna do? *shrug*
but i hate taylor so... i'll just continue to hate.
And anyone that knows anything about her should know that she's really liberal in how she thinks, her whole family is. Just bc she won't talk about it, doesn't mean she's trying to avoid being ~hated for the candidate she likes- it means she doesn't want to fucking talk about it.
ugh.
It seems like she's contractually obliged to alienate as few people as possible.
there are a lot of her songs that aren't about breakups you people are just too pathetic and biased to notice
some people just date a lot of shitty people

Second, calm the fuck down. It has absolutely nothing to do with her being a woman. It has to do with her breaking up with multiple people and writing songs about all of them.
Thirdly you are taking an ecard way too seriously, google them and laugh.
and i listen to all of her songs and understand she writes about more, but shes made her millions off of breakup songs, lbr...
John Mayer, 'nuff said.
The only song she wrote about Taylor Lautner (IIRC) was not a "nasty break up song" at all.
Liberals will think she's a liberal in the country music scene so she's staying quiet. Conservatives will think she's a conservative in hollywood so she's staying quiet. Everybody will think she's on their side.
I find her annoying, but she's got smarts. Now she just needs to stop shopping at Mod Cloth and I might start liking her.
I'm most likely not going to start liking her though. It's funny I used to LOVE T. Swift.
Republicans especially crack me up on this because they are always saying celebrities should shut up about politics; however, when that fake Jake Gyllenhall twitter endorsed Romney the Drudge Report had that shit up, huge, with a pic, all triumphant about it. I lold.
I guess I just don't see the harm in discussing something so important. I DO, however, see a problem with people who have no idea what they're talking about trying to start shit.
