Little skeezball, I was SO certain we were going to have some kind of DNW up in the obelisk I practically ate my couch cushion screaming NO DANA DON'T GO IN THERE THIS IS A BAD IDEA. I think my neighbours now think I'm insane, but w/e. MARK MY WORDS WE WILL WISH DEATH UPON THAT BOY.
Omg, this show is so stressful, because it doesn't waste time with bullshit. On any other show, that tape would have been kept a secret for like 4 episodes. Homeland is like, nah, fuck that. Balls to wall excitement and I practically can't breathe when I watch it every week. Ugh. SO GOOD.
I wished more shows had this pacing. I felt like Breaking Bad that that problem in the latter seasons where they would drag out storylines then go full force during the last 3 eppy's.
If it was a network show, Jessica finding out Brody is now a practising Muslim would've taken 15 episodes to reveal, and the end of episode 3 would've been the season finale.
I can't decide if I want Brody to carry out an attack or not. I mean, obviously the producers/writers are gonna pussy out, but ngl I was with him in that bunker, hoping he'd blow them all up /psycho :-/
I'm hoping they have Brody attempt another attack and kill him off this season. I would like the show to evolve with different adversaries as it progresses.
I'm still having issues with how they are painting the middle east.
as a Muslim, I like how they play with perceptions of the Middle East/Islam on the show. It's a bit of a Cold War situation, when the two guys (probably US citizens) getting killed while praying in the mosque causes no national outrage. (just imagine two white, christian guys getting shot by accident. anywhere.) This is very true to reality, in my opinion, and the show does itself well by blurring the line between "them" and "us".
Yeah I kept yelling at the tv 'just do it!' because I wanted Carrie to be proven right but I also didn't want to see him die. Idk I hope they come up with something creative so that he gets outed as a terrorist but still manages to remain on the show/as a major character.
I am going to feel let down if Brody accomplishes nothing, if nothing happens he would actually be more useless than the Four Lions terrorists, which really doesn't work on a ~serious political drama~.
I will say, though, that the only time that Homeland has dropped the ball, for me, is when shooting scenes in Lebanon. Lebanon is not a muslim country and Beirut is not a place where there are just shoddy souks and guys with rifles. Hamra street, the location of most of the action in the last two episodes, looks like this, for fuck's sake:
I had no idea what Beirut and Hamra Street looked like but I thought those scenes looked really lazy and stereotypical with the whole brown people with guns as a background for protagonist's heroism thing
It really did. I actually had to rewind part of the episode to check where they were because it didn't seem like they were representing Beirut; a cosmopolitan and progressive city.
Yeah I read about this in the other Homeland post. It was a really lazy depiction that seemed problematic. However, I have to say that they do a pretty half-assed job all around when it comes to depicting different settings and locations. I guess it's because they don't have the budget to pull some accurate shit together (among other reasons), but I've noticed it since Episode 1. Hell, even their depiction of D.C. and Langley are super inaccurate.
I was watching this episode going "...that's not lebanon, wtf..this looks like jerusalem"..and then i read they shot those scenes in israel and i was like "..HA i knew it"
I had no idea what Hamra St actually looked like (nice AS, from this picture) but I'm watching this episode like... um, Beirut is a first-world cosmopolis, no? What is this back-alley slum bullshit?
Edit: again, taking the time to say that PROPS TO THIS GODDAMN AUTHOR OF THE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT. More people need to know that Joe was responsible for it.
I get spoilered just scrolling past (like CUT TEXT GUYS, I KNOW IT'S THREE TINY WORDS BUT I HAVE HAWK EYES THAT JUST GRAB ONTO SPOILERS LIKE HEAT-SEEKING MISSILES) and I got SO mad that I actually paid $60 to upgrade my internet JUST to be able to download episodes as they air in the US. I get spoiled all the damn time for every damn thing, but THIS SHOW is the one that made me take action!
I agree. I feel like a lot of his actions kind of play out like the wrong decisions but for the right reasons (like last week where he didn't let Carrie do the debrief, but it was so obvious she thought she would get her job back and she was so fragile someone really needed to stop it).
What do we think about the VP's son? Genuinely a nice kid or trying to get information out of Dana?
I hate when shows waste my time
Thankfully it's not a network show.

Anyway, SO EXCITED FOR TOMORROW'S EP. Long time coming tbh.
I, as a Leb, and all my other Lebanese friends were really offended by that depiction. Like, REALLY offended. (Apparently, we weren't the only ones: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertain
