the difference is most spanish people wouldn't even say they're latino/hispanic

Depending on where you're from, you wouldn't even say you're Spanish. I have friends who live in in the North of Spain and they consider themselves Basque before anything.

Yeah but that's completely different, saying you're Hispanic or Latino is different from saying you belong to Spain as in the state/country. It's the same with Catalonians.

Latino =/= Spanish

And the difference geographicallys is that (idk much on the subject, and it's a delicate area) Spain is European and continually say/identify so. Most hispanic people from South/Central America are from thre. Two completely different continents and Spain is mostly adamant they're European, not "hispanic".

As far as I know, Spanish people are Hispanic too.

They're not Hispanic American, but they are Hispanic as well.

I've worked with Catalan teenagers who were quite insistent that I put their nationality as 'Catalan' on their leaving certificates.

Basque is a whole other ballgame, to be fair. They've fought so goddamn hard to preserve their culture.

He would be considered European. People from Spain aren't considered Latino.
