Susan Sarandon was almost molested

The actress confided to Elle magazine about a 'disgusting,' casting-couch experience that happened in her younger years. 'It was not successful – for either of us,' Sarandon explained, when asked if she had ever had a casting-couch experience.

'I just went into a room, and a guy practically threw me on the desk. It was my early days in New York, and it was really disgusting. It wasn’t like I gave it a second though, it was so badly done.'

She does not give any details of which audition she was assaulted at. Sarandon had her first audition at 23 when she went to a casting call for the motion picture Joe, landing a major co-starring role in the film, which was released in 1970.

The actress went on to win an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in the 1995 film Dead Man Walking.

mte, I keep reading it but it's still weird.

I think the attempt. Just so violent that she was like, "NHFT, I'M OUT!" I wouldn't want to be in a movie if someone heavily involved with it tried to assault me before anything.

That's horrible. I'm glad she got out if it alright.

:(

It's so vile that these people think they can get away with manipulative, awful behaviour. A lot of the time they do.

I am NOT saying the incidents are comparable AT ALL apart from in that they were allegedly perpetrated by people in positions of power, but watching all the Jimmy Savile stuff unravel in the news is horrifying.

I wish everyone felt that it's safe to speak out. :(

pretty fucking awful. but obv this shit is still happening. i remember being so disgusted by michael bay wanting megan fox to audition by washing his car. women are so fucking degraded, it makes me sick
nathanandbarry 14th-Oct-2012 02:25 pm (UTC)
I hate that actresses can never say who did these things to them because they know it'll turn into a shit storm. If they something not only will it possibly damage their careers but they could also be vilified for it. It turns into he said, she said, which usually ends in the latter losing. Then once that happens more women become even more afraid to speak up.
