Bollywood celebrates Amitabh Bachchan's birthday

Birthday boy Amitabh Bachchan partied till the wee hours of the morning on his 70th birthday. Here’s a trend check on what the stars donned at the hottest do in B-town

It’s been quite a journey for Sr Bachchan. The glittery turnout at the super glam birthday bash was ample proof of that. Here’s a lowdown on the designer creations our stars flaunted…

Birthday boy Amitabh Bachchan goes for all things royal. His black velvet Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla sherwani made him look dashin as ever. We’re smitten with him anyways, dapper that he is.

Junior’s jazz: Abhishek Bachchan opts for class appeal with a white blazer and like wifey dearie Ash keeps it a tad bit shiny. No qualms because he works the look fantabulously. His bow-tie adds finishing touches.

Bahurani: Some may say she’s hiding behind all that jazz. Fact is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walks the fashion talk rather confidently in this Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla ensemble. She seems to love these silhouettes of late and it’s only making her look like a million bucks.

En vogue: Preity Zinta always stands out. This time it’s her simplicity that does the trick. There’s something so Western about this attire, maybe it’s her short mane or just the way she carries herself. Whatever it is, she’s looking smoking hot.

Red Riding Hood: Shilpa Shetty’s red Tarun Tahiliani kaftan gown is not something we’re very gung-ho about. Firstly, it doesn’t accentuate her curves at all. Looks like the new mom is trying hard to play it safe, na?

Belle of the ball: Whoaaaaaa.. The bewitching diva is Bipasha Basu! Thank God she ditched her short mini dresses for this formal do. She couldn’t have opted for a more perfect ball gown than this Armaan by Sunaina Puri one.

Action replay: No surprise element to this look considering we’ve already spotted Sonakshi Sinha, don something similar whilst walking the ramp for Manish Malhotra. Also, for a young gal like her, shouldn’t she be donning something funkier? Keeping this minor glitch aside, she looks sweet.

Miss Perfect 10: Deepika Padukone makes a striking statement in this black and gold Rohit Bal ensemble. Although we miss her in her fancy gown appearances, this doesn’t take away from the fact that she looks too darn breathtaking. Sexy as hell!

Jazzy snazzy: Hasn’t Genelia D’Souza come a long way in this dull gold Cue by Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna gown? We can’t take our eyes off her. She doesn’t overdo it nor does she play it down. Her thigh high slit is so drool-worthy too!
As for Riteish Deshmukh, whatever we can see his Ermenegildo Zegna suit fits him to the ‘T’. Wish we’d have a better picture of his. Sigh!

Traditional trance: Anarkali seems to be the favourite amongst our B-town glamdolls. Madhuri Dixit swears by them too. Staying away from attention-seeking numbers, she works the look in dull shades with this Shane and Falguni creation. After all those blingy statements, we admit, it’s a pleasant break.

Red alert: Sridevi is quite the flavour of the season. She gives her younger contemporaries a crazy run for their money in this daring red number. She’s hit the bull’s eye with the way she carries her hair to her chunky kundan neckpiece to the ample amount of confidence for pulling this statement off. Kudos!

Grey shades: Aaaah! Isn’t John Abraham looking tres dishy in this Narendra Kumar tuxedo? He goes conventional with a white shirt, no surprises there but what’s crackling is his boyish charm.

yay a bollywood post !
