Unused 'Jurassic Park IV' Concept Art Tries to Destroy Your Childhood

Circulating on message boards over the past day, via a Reddit user, but brought to our attention by Badass Digest (credit city!) are a series of absolutely shocking concept art and sculpts from the previous incarnation of Jurassic Park IV. You know, the dumb idea about “genetically engineered human-dinosaur hybrids that were super smart gun-toting mercenaries”? The script was penned by John Sayles, and AICN‘s review of the screenplay (thankfully) sent it back into the depths of development hell. Yeah, that one.

Leaked onto the wonderful Interwebs are a series of concept art created by artist Carlos Huant, along with completely idiotic ILM sculpts. As the site suggests, some of the work looks like a lot like the Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man. This is bad.

I can only wonder if Steven Spielberg was involved with the project at this point. While one of the greatest directors of all time, he is the guy solely responsible for the CGI demon at the end of the brilliant Paranormal Activity
. Maybe he thought military designed hybrid dinosaurs were a cool idea? It’s hard to scoff so blatantly hard when we’ve all seen the Transformers movies – although, they were always alien robots that turned into cars. Dinosaurs, well, they’re fucking dinosaurs! What the hell was Universal thinking?!

What. The. Fuck. :-X I'm so glad they abandoned this concept. These look horrible. Had they moved forward I imagine Stan Winston rolling around in his grave.

I don't have time to read, but dinosaurs breeding with humans or ...?
black_phoenix 10th-Oct-2012 04:12 am (UTC)
It doesn't say. but I imagine not. The whole series had been about cloning dinosurs by isolating their DNA, so one presumes that this was the result of mixing their DNA with humans.

Anytime a woman wants to tell her lover she's pregnant, Jeff Goldblum needs to be in the same room as them and say this.

tucker 10th-Oct-2012 04:11 am (UTC)
I just want a jurassic park 4 :"(((((((((

also unpopular opinion but I loved Jurassic Park 3
tucker 10th-Oct-2012 04:13 am (UTC)
oh also once I had a dream about Jurassic park 4, they created a super realistic amusement park with robot dinosaurs but then someone broke the master computer chip thing that controlled them and then the super realistic robots were let loose onto the poor amusement park patrons and antagonists and protagonists were revealed
cuteej4 10th-Oct-2012 04:22 am (UTC)
I actually like all of them but the first is forever my favorite.

showmesara 10th-Oct-2012 05:23 pm (UTC)
same. I can't hate on any of them cause I just love me some dinosaurs. Though I'm really bored by the second half of the second movie... I don't want the dinos in traffic
tinkyfinky 10th-Oct-2012 04:37 am (UTC)

tinkyfinky 10th-Oct-2012 04:38 am (UTC)

spirograph 10th-Oct-2012 06:36 am (UTC)
No shame, I love them all!
mjspice 10th-Oct-2012 08:22 am (UTC)
Yes to both. Yes there was a little bit of stupidity going on in JP3 but I loved it.
firecracker_sj 10th-Oct-2012 11:42 am (UTC)
I love them all as well. Thought the first will always have a special place in my heart because it just scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.
shepaintedfire 10th-Oct-2012 06:45 pm (UTC)
no shame, 3 is my fave just bc there's less of the flop t-rex and more raptors/pterodactyls lol.
brenden 10th-Oct-2012 04:11 am (UTC)

mementox 10th-Oct-2012 04:13 am (UTC)
Jurassic Park still fucks me up to this day btw. I'm 26 and still have nightmares about dinosaurs
vehiclesshockme 10th-Oct-2012 04:23 am (UTC)
My friend and I were recently discussing how we're legitimately surprised we never had nightmares about this because in retrospect we weren't sure what our parents were thinking taking us to the midnight of this when we were seven. :-X
janeeyre 10th-Oct-2012 04:31 am (UTC)
Raptors gives me nightmares! *shudders*
1337nik 10th-Oct-2012 04:31 am (UTC)
I liked the T - Rex but this little fucker made me cry.

sorya86 10th-Oct-2012 04:40 am (UTC)

GET THE STICK

GET THE STICK

STICK STUPID
evangelion 10th-Oct-2012 06:11 am (UTC)
right?! you could legit hide from a t-rex in a small cave or something but those things? NOPE.
cuteej4 10th-Oct-2012 04:33 am (UTC)
I'm surprised my parents TOOK me to this because I remember seeing it TWICE in theaters. The first time, I hid in my mom's lap half the time and the second, I kept leaving to pretend to go to the bathroom.

I still never had nightmares though
redleigh86 10th-Oct-2012 04:43 am (UTC)
My mom says my reaction after she took me to see this when I was a kid was yet another example of how weird I am, since I apparently told her I would pay to visit Jurassic Park after all the dinosaurs escaped because it'd be fun to run from the raptors and hide from t-rex and let brontosauruses lick me... I don't remember that tbh, but my current reaction now runs more similar to yours lol.
flyingpigs_live 10th-Oct-2012 05:23 am (UTC)
me too Locke, but it's still one of my favorite movies.
xkissesandhugsx 10th-Oct-2012 07:47 am (UTC)
i had recurring nightmares about a t-rex as a child and when I was about 9 i refused to go into the toilets at school alone because i thought there would be raptors in there
mjspice 10th-Oct-2012 08:23 am (UTC)
LOL It had the opposite effect on me. It got me into dinosaurs. XD
fire_bad 10th-Oct-2012 10:55 am (UTC)
firecracker_sj 10th-Oct-2012 11:43 am (UTC)
I've only ever watched the first movie from either behind the couch or behind a pillow.
forgethissmile 10th-Oct-2012 12:22 pm (UTC)
I still can't go to the bathroom at like a campground without having a bit of anxiety that a T-Rex will come crashing through.
rootooyoo 10th-Oct-2012 12:37 pm (UTC)
My mom is terrified of them lol. She runs out of the room if the movie is on. I thought she was the only one tbh.
palmthejoker 11th-Oct-2012 01:04 am (UTC)
I have dinosaur dreams fairly frequently and Jurassic Park is my favorite movie. Buutttt...nightmares about dinosaurs generally mean you're trying to get rid of issues that are haunting you or you're trying to change your habits but having a hard time doing so.

Unless you're in Jurassic Park in your dreams. Then I can't help you, haha.
sky365 10th-Oct-2012 04:13 am (UTC)
wut it looks like the lizard from the amazing spiderman
rare_lj 10th-Oct-2012 04:13 am (UTC)
They look scary, but more like they belong in an Alien movie than Jurassic Park
isthisdesire 10th-Oct-2012 04:13 am (UTC)
ah nightmares for life

this would have scarred me for life as a child instead of bringing me the lulz
bellwetherr 10th-Oct-2012 04:13 am (UTC)
these designs would actually be pretty cool if it was a completely separate idea from jurassic park.
goldenlockets 10th-Oct-2012 04:33 am (UTC)
ia
vehiclesshockme 10th-Oct-2012 04:43 am (UTC)
Yeah I mean they aren't terrible concepts they're just awful in the world of Jurassic Park.
redleigh86 10th-Oct-2012 04:44 am (UTC)
It's like something I'd expect if Guillermo Del Toro was making an origin film for Killer Croc. Especially those models.

Which would actually be awesome.
lone_concertina 10th-Oct-2012 01:14 pm (UTC)
I NEED that.
bellwetherr 10th-Oct-2012 03:50 pm (UTC)
OMG THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.
sandvich 10th-Oct-2012 04:55 am (UTC)
Yeah, I'd really like them for a non-JP video game or something. I mean, how awesome would it be to fight a giant bipedal triceratops?
pennyroyaltea 10th-Oct-2012 05:18 am (UTC)
i agree!
mjspice 10th-Oct-2012 08:30 am (UTC)
Yeah if it was some other sci fi movie then agreed but for Jurassic Park? NOPE!!!
