Facebook Issues Warning over Offensive Groups

Facebook has warned users that the creation of offensive tribute groups will not be tolerated.

The social network's director of policy Simon Milner said that the site's terms and conditions are clear on the matter and vowed to take action against members who engage in such acts.

Milner's comments come in the wake of the arrest of a Facebook troll who created a group paying tribute to a man accused of shooting two Manchester police officers dead.

Facebook this week introduced a system to help users report offensive content on the network. The new 'Support Dashboard' will also help the site's moderators tackle bullying and abuse.

"Only a small minority of our users ever report problems," The Telegraph quotes Milner as saying. "This will just increase transparency around how we respond to those that do."

Facebook confirmed this week that it has now passed the milestone of 1 billion worldwide users.

that reminds me of one time i was on facebook
and it said who would you eliminate off the face of this earth and it showed a green and a red button. The green button said bronies the red button said n!ggars. A bunch of people picked the red button because they said n!ggars are useless

I wish Facebook would fix the current photo issue.

I hate Facebook and I wish I could break up with it, I really do. But it is so heavily ingrained in my college experience ugh.

I think the fact that there is no way to hide your tagged photos from your friends like there was before. If there's a way then I don't know how to do it and I really wish I could.

I hate that you can't hide an entire album anymore. I've tried and tried but whenever I roll over the little wheel, it tells me i could change the audience for each photo in this album.

I hate that you can't move around your profile pictures without re-uploading them (what the fu), and that i can barely edit albums that are creates by my mobile device (like iphone pics)- i can't take things in and out of the album ughh

i feel the same way. i have family and friends scattered across the globe so i begrudgingly admit it's the best way to keep in touch but i'm such a social misfit i find it just weirds me out even more.

i want to delete my FB so SOOO bad but i just can't bring myself to do it. i can't keep up with all of the privacy settings. i don't understand why everything has to be so open on that site.

Good, I've reported many times groups called things like 'Sluts embarrassing themselves' where people post pictures of women and everyone lays into her and fuck all's been done about it.

there is this sims (lol) forum i go on that as a fun survey topic thread going on. one of the questions is 'do you think it's really trashy and disgusting when girls get really wasted?'

it pisses me off so much, why should it not be any different than if a guy does?

Yup, there were some pages I saw called "Midwest Hoes" and they were pissing me off so badly. I was pleasantly surprised that many of my FB friends were also denouncing the groups and pointing out that online bullying is unacceptable. I don't always have faith in the people I'm FB friends with, haha, so it was nice to see they thought it was disgusting as well.

I've reported a couple of "Freaks only" or "Nasty Hos" groups and even though they all had explicit nudity and I'm sure the girl in the picture didn't know some douche was posting it on FB, they only took one down and said the others didn't violate ToS. Like, fucking really? There's a picture of naked, spread-eagle girl being used as the group pic, I think that's a violation.

If they are impersonating you, I think they should be arrested. That happened to me last year. Three psychos made me a fb and used my real name/picture. I'm pressing charges over it.

Go you! For real, good luck. I've been getting texts and calls for a while now, people knowing my full name and number and Facebook, too. Claiming I told them to text/call me. All I can say is "I'm sorry, but that's someone else pretending to be me.." And I either get bitched at or just ignored. A few people I've gotten to tell me what took place beforehand, most of the times it's someone pretending to be me on Omegele, I guess.

there was a whole scandal where people thought their inbox msgs were being leaked onto their timelines from like 2009 & earlier. FB denied it.. but who knows?
